Dead Edges with Pics

I've read through the diagnosis threads and I'm still unsure as to what may have caused this to happen to my plants.
-- I'm growing in soil.
-- Watering every 2 to 3 days and using flora nova grow every other waterIng.
-- I changed the wattage of my lamp from 600 to 400, back to 600 and back to 400 (over a week) as I was testing this relieve the heat in my room. I am currently at 400 W
-- These plants are about nine weeks old.

This is a strain called headband.

More details. Looks wilted in top pic. What ppm are you giving on the Flora? Are you getting run-off and watering very slowly? Is your water quality good and not going through a salt based water softener? I'm guessing at toxic salt build up but not sure that makes sense at week 9 with large pots like yours. How hot have you been running?

I don't have a ppm meter, but I'm giving them 1/2 tsp flora nova per gallon of water. I have been using city tap water that sat out for a day; until today ( I just bought distiller water and my partner will be refilling containers with RO water).

They have been in the dark for 24 hours and I am switching to a 12/12 cycle to flower.

When I water them I try to keep the water pooling in the center of the pot as opposed to running to the side (If that's what you meant by watering slowly).

The room temp fluctuates between 80 and 92 degrees.

Another thought. With my partner gave these to me they were on an all organic nutrient regiment. Switching to the Flora Nova may have been a shock.

I'm going to flush them with distilled water only for the next two waterings (4-5 days).

Anything else to help expand this conversation is helpful, thank you.

Unless you are running CO2, your temps are too hot. You need to keep them below 78. Above that they go into survival mode on indoor grows.

In regards to watering slowly, try to get their watering done over a 10-15 minute period, not all in one shot. Drip lines are nice for this purpose.

It looks like your plants are very dry , maybe almost heat sressed and maybe some leaves are getting wet when you water?

You NEED to know what the PPM is going in and coming out. RO water is fine but you will supplement CALMAG for it because of its filtering . Without knowing what the plants are exposed to as far as ppm levels and PH , you are just guessing and you won't be able to correct it in the right way. You just can't " throw " nutes at it. Watering should be WHEN plant is actually going dry NOT because it's been a few days gone by.

I would flush her , to clear buildup and possibly salt . Don't feed or water UNTIL pot container feels dry and lighter. This is a good time to do this when you going to 12/12 cycle. Keep the plant as stress free as you can during this " transition " period to flower.
It needs up to a week to " hormonally " change to concentrate of blooming. With a clean slate , by the time it needs water again , start with 1/2 strength bloom nutes .

Get a meter , they are like $15 on eBay. ( better safe than sorry ) bongsmilie

My plant is looking better since I flushed it. I've checked out some videos on ppm and tds, but I'm not quote sure what I'm looking for. Total dissolved solids of what. And parts of what per million?

Are these things related specifically to nutrients or is it related to how much random shit is in my water? Does adding something
Ike liquid calcium make the tds or parts per million go up.

Can you recommend a video or walk me through the process? I looking for an educated stoner.

You are checking a few things -
What is your BASELINE ( parts per million ) of your water AND PH being used. Depending on source : City , Reverse Osmosis ( RO ) , Well or other , you need to see were it stands. When you mix your nutes into it , you have to be within the " range " that the plants will get most out the feed mix. Check online for the ' feeding chart " for the nute line you are using. Especially for the particular STAGE ( week ) your plants are in.

Most feed charts are at max levels , so a slow introduction ( say 1/4 - 1/2 strength ) of reccomendend dosage. MORE IS NEVER GOOD , RULE OF THUMB LESS IS MORE.

You are also checking the " finished nutes " both ppm AND PH . So plant has the best chance to absorb and utilize the feeding. PH out of range will cause Lockout , PH problems ( leaf spotting ) , and possibly killing the plant. TOO MUCH feed ( High PPM ) can cause plant problems , lockout , burning , stunting , stress and also plant death.

It is important to know what goes in and what comes out.
You can check both PPM AND PH of the runoff ( watering ) coming out of plant to see if PH is holding and how much ( ppm ) is coming out ( sometimes very high numbers ) will lead to flushing plant to clear over feeding and salt buildup. This helps DIAL IN your feeding - the schedule charts are just a guide. Your plants will tell you if they are happy and healthy or looking kinda fucked up

Cannabis is a hearty plant and can weather most issues , but not feeding properly will get you less than you expected.
