Darkness before switching to 12/12

Hello to all ! 1st indoor grow here. Heard that the plants should go dark for 32 hours before switching from veg to flower. Heard it at a hydro store, but am a bit wary. Believe i've been given incorrect info on purpose before. So what do y'all think. Thanks in advance.:eyesmoke:

maybe you are getting something mixed up. Ive heard of giving them 24+ hours of darkness before harvesting, but not before switching light schedules.

I've heard of this. Apparently it can speed up the onset of flowering and shave several days off the total time until harvest. However, this is at the expense of some yield, and with an increased risk of a hermie response.

Not worth it, IMO.

EDIT: Here's where I got my info from:

Have not tried 36 hrs dark but did try 48 hrs from 18/6 veg. The final yield was down between 15 and 20% by var the pure sats the biggest loss in final weight and caused the odd herm, [sats] it did reduce the flowering time by 5 to 8 days.
