Do you benefit from 24 to 48 hour dark before harvest is it truly necessary? Also would it harm any other plants in the room that are not quite ready? But I am into flush and some Amber already. Thank you in advance

I've never done it for fear of mold. Mold likes darkness. I guess if you have a fan running and the right humidity you'd be ok but I've never bothered and have had exceptional results without it.

I have a quote from Dr. Atomic on why he does it.
Just remembered I had saved this post.

"...these plants were left in darkness for three full days before being chopped down. Cannabis plants react to an extended absence of sun or light with the realization that frost/death is imminent and pump out a lot of resin in a sort of panic. They know that their life is soon terminated so they try to attract pollen in a last gasp to get fertilized. I believe in these last three days of resin production contains the most potent cannabinoids."

That might change your mind. Idk.. like I said before I just know I don't want mold and have been satisfied with my results but hey, I guess you could give it a shot.

The whole darkness thing came from a study that was done a while back, they found one particular pheno of a particular white strain that had a noticeable increase in trichs when left in a climate controlled room for 3 days of uninterrupted darkness, if it got any light it wouldnt happen, they tried it on other white strains and it didnt do anything, just that single pheno of the strain. Dont remember the strain. I know people who live by it but I see no difference in their stuff when they do it.

No it won't hurt other plants in the room that are still flowering ...

I do it now....noticeable imo
I don't agree with that quote however
