48 hours is the magic number? really I though 24 was good? Damn, now I got to harvest a day later. what does 48 do comparing to 24 hours?

So ya'll are sayin' X amount of darkness when the trichs are ready, but prior to cutting the plant from the planter, is a good thing? What is the intended purpose, please? And the results? Thanks.

if anything I don't think it will puff up the buds. but supposedly get more frosty. that's the whole idea, because trichs are supposedly produced on the dark periods.

It's a myth....theres no "tricking the plant thing...I read that after it's 12hr dark is the right time to cut.....Fdd has posted some text on this, maybe you could find the link..

i believe it is a myth as well, people say you trick the plant into thinking it is dying so it will grow the trichs to try and protect the flowers. Is the way i've heard it and according to my readings on riu and other forum's evidence indicates this to be un-true, but i cant see it harming the plant since your going to chop it anyway

If the darkness before chopping the plant is suppose to produce trichs, lets say it does, wouldn't they be clear and not mature enough to do its intended purpose.

Thats why on a mature plants that looks ready to cut you check out the trichs and wait for them to turn cloudy and or amber.

the trick is to time it by letting them wilt and almost die without water in 48 hours of darkness. i try to not flush with water for a couple days in regular lighting schedule, then let it dry out more in the darkness. it helps the speed of the overall drying too.

good point man, shit never thought of that till now. but I think at the harvesting point any trich added to the bud would make the stone better, no matter what hands down. You still can get stoned off the clear trichs, right?

I used to water stress all my plants, but never tried the black out . . . it always seemed to make for a speedier buzz . . . you know, more Daffy Duck than Elmer Fudd.

The Point Is To Stress The Plant. Thats All, Ive Heard Of People Stabbing Their Stems With Rusty Nails A Week Before Harvest For Huge Trich Gains. On The Same Note, Ive Read That Trichs Are Not A Reflection Of Thc Content! Chew On That For A Bit. The Trichs Just Increase Smell Not Potency. And Looks And Taste (maybe Not Taste) But Certainly Price!!!
