good thread guys learned a ton, thanks for all the helpful info i will post of any tips i can think of, but i am on my first grow so not a whole lotta experience now, ive read a lot of shit but, its different then gettin your hands dirty...keep it up thanks again peace

what about using something like takeroot with popped seeds? sounds like a great idea to help get the seed rooted bigger and faster. or do seeds already have a lot of that hormone and would be extra that could put it over the plants limit? anyone know if this works? would be a good tip if it does. thank potlike, he mentioned it to me today.

been slacking here due to prepping for a house guest that wont know about my grow... have to have everything sorted so i can skip visiting the grow for days on end... this meant adding an AC duct to the grow so i dont have to use the lame method of opening the tank up during light's on for cooling...

which brings us to today's tip:

ventilation is a major factor to a successful grow. relying on opening up your grow area during lights on is a BAD plan. it defeats the stealth aspect of things as well as making the grower the weakest link.

proper ventilation has intakes mounted as low as possible on one side of the grow with proper light baffles installed and the exhaust as high as possible on the opposite side of the grow with a sufficient fan pulling the air from the grow.

a light baffle can either be a small box like fitting over the vents that prevents light from having a direct shot into the grow or by using PVC pipe or duct work to make an S curve.

using a smooth material for ventilation works better than using corrugated metal duct work since air moves faster and cooler without turbulence.

a properly ventilated grow does NOT require AC unless you live in an area with high temps and/or humidity.

my adding AC is because i had the AC duct and didnt have a sufficiently large fan for my grow now that i have upgraded to over 600 watts.... a far better thing would be to have upgraded my exhaust fan.

proper ventilation is important for a multitude of reasons but the most important one in the end is because it affects yield. with the upgrade in wattage i would have expected to get thicker buds, but because i raised the temps, the buds are actually lighter and slower to develop.

plan your grow properly and plan your upgrades.

lernzo08, sorry can't answer you at all since i have never tried what you are asking about. i would think it was unneeded though since germing seeds is never a problem.

I have a flood/drain setup and was wondering how deep i should flood. right now they are in 1 inch rock wool cubes, and placed about half way down a 6 inch pot in hydroton. should i be flooding to the rock wool cube or am I just trying to get the lower roots wet?

U will wont the water line to be about half way up that cube! Db.~tlb!

Daily Tip From me...well i'm new to growing. best advice i could give n e one would be to watch the colour of trichomes when judging when to HARVEST (what good is it to take care of your plants if you end up with highs you don't like)

Clear trichomes//very active high
Milky trichomes//'cerebral', real happy
Amber trichomes//body stone, can't move shit
as you can imagin there are the inbetweens, but there ya have it! This thread should be a STICKY!!!

My tip (not grow related): Since I joined RIU I have seen so many posts on different threads where people describe exactly how the seed banks they use ship the seeds. they are telling what they are in and how its hidden to make it through customs. IMO this is totally wrong. Anybody can see these posts and who knows whos actually reading them. If the seed banks u use are discreet simply say how discreet. NO DETAILS. Id like to continue to have my seeds arrive here safely as opposed to a letter notifying me of a seizure. I know, Im blabbing -ST

i understand your concern but it would be trivial for LEO to just order seeds from all the seedbanks to see how they are doing it.

your right, but they change up how they are shipped and keep them guessing all the time. Ive seen many different ways in a year from the same seedbank
