hey guys trying to see if anyone has done this before. Im going to be planing 20 clones and 20 seeds out in the forest this season. Im pre growing them right now indoors.
When I go to plant them outside in the ground. I want to leave them for a week or 2 so they can get use to the transplant. come back in the 2 weeks and top them all. Is it possible to cut a few more nodes down big enough for a cutting and stick it straight into the ground with the rooting hormones? or should i stick the cutting into rockwool and then put the combo into the ground right away?

No ,when you come back they will be dead, clones need strict temp control also the rh may be too low as well. Iclone them in a clone box, then transplant to a small pot ,veg another 2 weeks under a 4oow mh then out they go. In summer you must harden off first.

yeahh what you want to do is harden them off bring them out and in for like 3 days or so when you notice it getting a lil stonger stem then transplant also try to transplant when the moon is in its wanning phase good luck!

alright thanks guys. yah i was told by a friend i could do this but i was very skeptical on the idea. I will stick to my orginal idea of taking the clones and rooting them at home then bring them out when strong.

you should water them when you plant em, even then I would worry if I left a plant in a sunny spot even for 2 days . leaving them for one day after a while but I would water it every day at first unless you have a drip line coming from a creek, etc. If you keep one or 2 in reserve you could afford to lose 1 but somebody is likely to molest it while youre gone or if you leave it for too long it dries up , also it should get 6 or more hours of sunlight, so it takes time to find a good spot

Bro I put a fresh cut clone with some root tech, sure the leaves wilted n shit, so I pulled up and there was hella resistance, so I pulled more it came up and there were a few roots growing out the side of the stalk. So it was in transition, it would of started making new foliage as soon as it woulda rooted more with more water here and there. So I went out and cut 3 more and stuck em straight in the dirt again with my roottech hormone gel. Just give it a try. It might look shitty at first, but let nature take its course my guy. Hope this helped. Cheers

if it was as easy as cutting a branch and sticking it in the ground then why would everyone be bothering with humidity domes and aeroponic cloners??

because of success rate.

sure maybe 1/10 would survive if you did it the old fashioned way. maybe.

Rooting hormone then straight to a cup of seed starter mix has been working well for me. I use a bag over the cup to act as a humidity dome. Could probably get by without the bag if I had time to mist them a few times a day till rooted.

I don't use a humidity dome, my success rate is largely dependent on strain. Some strains have ~100% success (Wedding Cake), others, like legend OG, I've had much lower success. I think humidity domes are overused...might be a necessity in very dry places, but my RH out here is 30-40 and I can usually get away without one...plus there is far less risk of molding without the dome. Just my experience...maybe I should be using a dome for strains like legend...

Every year I take a trimming off each plant I grow outdoors and plunk them straight in a 2 gallon smart pot. Not once has any one strain failed on me. I just get a smaller version of each plant that I can usually push further than the mother. I don't use rooting formula, just a 45° cut and right into some FFOF. Have to keep it watered regularly though.

This was my first year to cut clones and I made well over 200 and I had 100 percent live and are growing great it was g-13.that I cloned.i cut on a 45 and scraped the sides dip it then in water then clon x and put the clone in rock wole cubs and the trick was to let the cubs dry out and the roots just shot out looking for water and a person on hear told me how and I got lucky and never lost a clone and even took clones from the top of the plants.
