cutting the top of your plant

My plant is now 2 meters tall and has out grown my wardrobe, its into the 4th week of flowering, and the plant is touching the 250W CFL, should I cut the top of the plant.

What are the negative effects to doing this?

Thanks guys

Only top your plants in veg, during flower you risk stressing your plant AND you lose a cola. I would try to bend it over and tie it down.

i would bend it or raise the light. Bending i would only do if it was under its 3rd week in flower. after that your stressin the plant and taking critical bud formation time. cutting it would be very bad i agree. tying it down seems like your only solution if the light cant go up anymore.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say your plant has stretched severely if it is 4 meters tall, and under 1 - 250w CFL. But let's see some pictures...

I cut my main cola off my last grow, the plant didn't die and it let more light go to the lower bud sights.

But im not sure if i'd do it that way again.

Top and Tie it. One reason your plant has stretched so much is probably because it is under-illuminated. Under-illuminated, like some folks.
