Curling/Glossy Look?

Okay, so I have a couple little issues arising here. I tried to do some digging around, but I know that I will get a more detailed answer by posting here.

Okay, I have some plants that are about 23 days old (from seed). I had some yellowing happen and pretty much tracked it down to iron issues. That issue is working itself out just fine. However, now the leaves on a few plants are curling upward (taco style), and getting a glossy finish to them.

I gave them a 1/3 strength solution of General Organics feeding schedule (for week 2 veg) recently to clear up the iron issues I mentioned before. Seemed to work, but I thought I would throw that out there so you know what they have been fed as well. Oh, they are also in Royal Golds Basement Coco mix.

Now, if the humidity is low...would plants curl their leaves like this trying to transpire if the soil is too wet? I am thinking the stomata might be closed due to lack of RH, but TRYING to transpire anyway because there is too much moisture in the soil. RH normally doesnt drop below 50% though. Thoughts?

Anyway, I remember something about plant leaves turning glossy...but couldnt remember (or find) the cause...let alone the cure. There are a couple pics of that issue as well.

Pics are worth a thousand words right?

First pic has both issues, curling and glossy leaves.

2nd pic has yellow from iron issues (or so it seems) but its SO much better than a few days ago, if you look at the lowest first set of 3 you can see the curling starting.

3rd pic, when looking at the newer growth is glossy and has raised ridges in the leaves (some kind of build up?).

Please let me know what you guys think may be the cause/solution to these problems.

Thanks for your time and help. In the mean time Im going to go smoke some Diablo Kush and hope someone can help me save my poor babies!

Nobody? No suggestions or ideas? I have had the PH at pretty much 6.5 to 6.0 if that helps.

you maybe over watering them....but the middle one looks like its having ph issues... I would double check that one....try watering when they are dry about a top finger joint or more below the surface of the soil.....good luck with that... :^)

The middle one was actually an iron issue as far as I can tell. The yellowing used to be towards the center of the leaves and is being pushed out by new chlorophyll. Problem fixed itself when I added some mild nutes.

I am aware that the soil is a bit moist at the moment as well. I had to flush them to fix some PH problems and they are taking forever to dry back out. Do you think thats all it might be? The plants curling trying to transpire some of that excess moisture?

Thanks for the response man.

Any other thoughts or ideas out there?

:leaf:looks like you know about leafs and humidity. As for glossy, Ive had different strains of kush that have really thick glossy leafs. Could be the strain? My new growth on young plants are almost always cupped upwards, until about two days then they flatten out.
Good call on iron, but if they contort then look into zinc.:leaf:

Thanks on the zinc info. I was looking at some pics of zinc issues recently and noticed that it closely resembled iron lock out. Yeah, I paid a lot of attention in life science man. I already knew about things like transpiration and thigmotropism (not a Cannabis trait as far as I know) etc. It was PH that I neglected to keep control of, and my plants paid the price.

I have been meaning to pop back in here and say that Jats was right. My PH was pretty high. I thought it was okay, I was using a stupid liquid drop kit...learned they are indeed not very accurate. So I bought a PH pen and things have been on the rebound ever since.

Thanks Jats, +repped you a while back actually.
