Curing vs drying

I have a delemia.
I travel a lot. I can water and such from the road. But the drying and curing is going to be a prob.

From what I have gathered, drying is just hanging and waiting a week(ish) But the curing involves the jars and refreshing the air a few times a day to every few days.

Are there any stand alone curing methods?

The water method looked good to me, but also have the same issues.

I *might* be able to create an automated nitrogen purge curing jar. And replace the N2 automatically (Keep in mind air is 80% N2)

Have a buddy do it for you. I can't think of any realistic way to leave them at home AND open the jars a couple times a day.

Other option would be to not cure it. But many people here would call that a crime, lol.

i was thinking about this the other day.. would it be worth it to tube the tops of a couple jars together and hook em up to a pump and a timer... just to cylce the air a few times a day, maybe add a filter... i was actually thinking along the lines of a dorm frig modified to control the humidity, air flow, temp what not for various curing and drying and put on a timer... just an idea i had

Have a vac pump in mind? I've been pondering a HVAC pump for a while for various uses. Buts its pricey ($200 US)
The solenoid valves aren't much of an issue (though still trying to fond some more cheap)

i was thinking just a fish tank air pump and link a few together.. maybe some ziplock containers... use fish tank tubing and silicone to link the "champers" then set the pump on a timer to pump for 1min a few times a day...
and hopefully having the same effect as burping.. in case you wont be around
again just an idea

yeah just get a rubber valve that takes some backpressure to open for the air inlet to the curing container, run a tube out to the pump, get a digi timer and that should be pretty money - and cheap!

... this is simple...

just leave them hang drying a day or two longer than you think you should... really dry them out... then jar them...

the only reason they'd need daily attention is if there was still a lot of moisture inside the buds/stems that'll seep out and be absorbed by the dryer parts of the plant and also dissipate into the air surrounding buds in the jar... you don't want to lose a crop to moldy buds... but if they dry enough before jarring... they don't need the daily burping... buds might be a bit more crumbly than with the constant burping and whatnot but they'll still be everything you need if you air dry them a bit longer...

i wonder if you could rehydrate the bud with peel/cotton wool etc after leaving them stored really dry as lumberjack said, and then perform a cure. but i guess this would totally defeat the purpose of curing altogether...:-?

I was diggin this idea a TON. Only downside I see is that them little air pumps don't put out much PSI (if really any)

But I guess I could use a solenoid valve to vent while air pump is on.
(yeah, I tend to over science things)

Other idea is to use a gas. N2, helium, etc. Keep a little pressure in the bottle with a pressure relief valve on it. Add new gas periodically and the relief valve will self purge. (not into a shop air compressor can get oil and other nasties.) Helium is hygroscopic, so it will absorb moisture. N2 is pretty neutral and the main gas in air. O2, is just dangerous.

I have the same problem... traveling! Ugh! I had to leave for 10 days right after my harvest. I hung them in a small closet with a humidifier on a 30 min on/off timer. I live in a dry ass climite, avg. RH is 20%. So, I got home and the plants were dryer than a pop corn fart. I figured it wrecked them but I put it in a jar anyway and hoped the moisture would "come out". But no moisture was present. I then used the old apple peel trick and that seemed to re-hydrate the bud. Still, I prefer to burp out the moisture but when you just can't be around, this method ain't bad.
