Curing in mason jars at 30% humidity

I ordered my Boveda last night. Im going to dry to crispy, then jar with boveda and forget about em. No hydrometer needed. SO MANY testimonials saying Boveda is THE SHIT. Doesnt matter who you are, if u grow weed and u have not tried it, try it. For $12.50 for 10 8 gram boveda packs, which can keep 10 oz fresh for up to 2 years. Thats a fuckin steal.

I might be misunderstanding what you are saying, if so plz forgive...

but I wouldn't dry them to a crisp, but to around 60% ish...
what you might wanna try is to air dry fresh buds just like its outlined in a few stickies here; personally I dry my buds to the consistency of a fresh twig on the ground, not exactly helpful but I know how that feels....

...anyway, once I've gotten the bud to about what I "think" is the right moisture, I jar it up and slap one of those round cheapo hygrometers in with it and wait......if it maintains a RH of around 60-60%, in goes a Boveda and I screw on the lid; voila' no more bother or interaction.... I got bud that cured to perfection doing this: a method shamelessly borrowed from posters here on RIU

currently I'm researching different ways to store bud long term, I recently cop'd a jar vacuum sealer and will post later.....

I got bud over 8 mo's old using just a Boveda and noticed a slight loss in smell, not sure how normal that is or not tho...
 
If the buds read lower than 60% on hygrometer then it is in curable right? And if not what is the proces? I have dried after manicuring on branch hanging method for 2 days then trimmed them down to nugs and went 3 days in brown bags and now 2 days in jars and I'm reading 57%humidity am I ok? Or did I screw up somewhere?
 
Nope, that sounds fine, if not perfect. 62% isn't written in stone anywhere, it's just a convenient number because there inst' a boveda 57 pack.

I could be wrong, but when he said "until crispy", I'm assuming he meant the outside of the buds. Usually when you air dry buds (unless it's in a damp basement), the outsides dry out faster than the inner stem. This is one reason I like the brown paper bag drying method. I feel like it dries more evenly than hanging alone. When the outside starts to get crispy, you can fold the bag closed for a few hours and check to see if it's more even.

A lot of times when the outside is crispy, they aren't even ready to put in the jars (at least permanently) yet. In that case, after leaving in the jar for an hour or 2, the moisture from the stems will "sweat" back to the outside and the RH inside the jar will get too high. Then it's back into the paper bag for more drying.
