I use a hygrometer to make sure the boveda packs are working correctly. I use the little $4 digital hygrometers on ebay and 8g boveda 62 packs. After stabilization, they are always right at ~62% rh. Boveda 62's are about $1 per 8g pack and were designed for cannabis. Why would you not use them is the question.
sorry if you can't see it, it's right at 62% in the jar. I try not to open too often. I'll get a day's worth and put it in a jar w/ out a boveda pack so it will dry out just a tad during the day.

I just throw one in the jar, when they are done, they will get hard, they stay good for quite some time.
Here in CO, humidity is only around 20% so it's pretty important IMO. If it gets too dry it loses all smell and flavor.
