Last year we had quite a bit of cucumber beetles in our large in ground beds and was wondering what is best for prevention? Companion planting or Products?

I'd give neem meal a shot as well as sticky traps, and neem oil/surfactant sprayed on the plants regularly. I only use spinosad as a last resort, but if a certain kind of plant is getting demolished while others in the garden are fine, then I just get rid of those plants. I have a massive problem with earwigs and can't grow ANY brassica type crops at all, but lettuce grows just fine.

Dang. That blows. I too have an earwig issue. They attack the new silks and last round kept the corn from successfully pollinating. Was pretty bummed. Since then I have been letting my chickens out and growing cover crop to try and balance out the pest issue.

They never did attack my broccoli, thank goodness.
