good news! Putin wants a Ukranian Summit with Biden (today's news)- i sure hope this is not in person..case in point friend.

Happy Presidents Day!
Break out the 30 foot long conference table,if both sides negotiate for 3-4 more weeks Putin's troops will be exhausted from deployment(they are not in California,it's cold and nasty outside),and the Ukraine ground will begin the spring thaw(the window will close)ending the threat for now.

Trump would just cut a deal, give Putin Ukraine peacefully as long as after the dust settles Ukrain says they will be investigating the Bidens. But 2024 is a long time for Putin. He has to get her done while he is still in power.

if Trump were President this wouldn't be happening and i don't mean that in a good way. Trump was going to cripple us by taking away the SS Trust fund..no checks..no money; then we were going to become part of Russian Federation.

at every turn Putin threatens; re-threatens because nothing he's doing is working with Biden; we no longer have President Convenient Fool in the Oval.

Not good. If they recognize the areas as independent and the beak away rulers ask the Russians to help with security then the Russians are free to move in. The rest of the world may not agree but say Crimea three times and click your heels and see where that gets you.
Putin to recognize independence of Ukraine breakaway regions
The Kremlin on Monday said Russian President Vladimir Putin will recognize as independent two breakaway territories in eastern Ukraine, The New York Times reported.

The move is likely to set up a confrontation with Kyiv and its Western allies that are poised to push back on potential, large-scale Russian military aggression.

The Kremlin said in a statement Putin intends to sign a decree recognizing the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic, which are in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, as independent. The Kremlin further said the Russian president received pushback from the leaders in France and Germany over the decision during a phone call.

“The president of France and the Federal Chancellor of Germany expressed their disappointment with this development. At the same time, they indicated their readiness to continue contacts,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

The move follows Putin presiding over a public and highly-choreographed meeting of the Russian National Security Council where members expressed near unanimity for the Kremlin to recognize the territories as independent.

The Biden administration has warned Putin against making such a move, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken saying the U.S. would impose a “swift and firm response” if the Kremlin recognized the territories' independence.

This is a likely scenario. Nobody will buy it, other than the talking heads on Fox, OAN and the like. Putin can try to justify it with those shenanigans but it won't stop sanctions.

Ukraine gave up it's nuclear weapons in exchange for territorial guarantees from Russia and the boundaries were agreed upon when the soviet union was dissolved. This is a violation of the UN charter and an attempted Munich agreement by intimidation.

I figure this has more to do with Joe taking Vlad and the oligarchs money and restricting their mobility, they were flying in an out of America every day under Trump. There are things happening here that has got Vlad all wound up that we don't know about and Vlad doesn't want public either. If Putin wanted to make a move on the Ukraine he would have done it while Trump was POTUS and America was weak. I'm pretty sure Ukraine is a hostage in this situation, but once Vlad takes his shot he's fucked and it will be cold war 2.

There is a reckoning to be had for what Russia has already done, including cyber attacks, hacking, assassinations with weapons of mass destruction, political interference and attacks on diplomats with EMP weapons. Perhaps this is just to maneuver Vlad into a position where full sanctions can be applied, Ukraine might get thrown under the bus temporarily. I remember what happened to Iran when they took Americans hostage, they paid a heavy price for decades and continue to, I feel the same treatment is in store for Russia. Russia has many enemies and few real friends and you win by making more friends than enemies in the global village and if you are rich, friends ain't hard to find.

I'm sure you're right but that table is so extreme it's hilarious, like Vlad is stating in a overkill way,"stay away from me my highly esteemed mutant comrade". Wondering if he has a button to descend a large plexiglass sheet in the event some coughing occurs? If Macron started hacking maybe a couple of Vlad's henchman would appear in PPE gear and hose him down w/disinfectant.

and you win by making more friends than enemies in the global village
It depends on what you by win
Win in the sense that you have more flowers at your funeral than someone like Franco, who If he were alive would laugh at that thought & beat you.
Or Stalin, who died an old man & by some measure a successful one.
Winning in actuality is in the eye of the beholder.
The despots don't care if they are liked.
In their minds, they won.

I look at it like WW2 another fight against fascism, Churchill made friends and Hitler made new enemies everyday. The fight is no longer just against totalitarianism, but against corruption in general, it's wellspring. That includes corruption and tax havens in the west too, all the places assholes and dictators hide their money including corrupt western politicians, corruption is the real threat, Putin is it's face. Corruption leads to poverty, injustice and war and needs to be treated seriously, not with a slap on the wrists. It makes politicians vulnerable to blackmail and gives the rich a bigger say than they deserve. Vlad is just a nuked up mafia don.

Actually the real reason was the most simple-Macron didn't want the Russians to touch him. They wanted to perform whatever their covid testing is on him and he 'no'. Hence the huge table.

I don't blame him..they can use poison this way.

When Gorbachev agreed to the re-unification of Germany, secretary of state Baker promised him that NATO would not expand eastward "not one inch". Ooops, guess that was a technicality since NATO has expanded eastward millions of inches since then. No wonder the russians don't trust our government.
Gorbachev was the 1980s. What the hell are you on about? If a country with free and fair elections decides to Join, who the fuck is James Baker to have made that decision for them decades earlier?

We learned on 60 minutes last night that it's probably microwaves not Electro Magnetic Pulse. Not saying anything to Putin innocence.

Its a great story on Havana Syndrome.

EMP is a general term, I believe they were shooting high powered directed pulses of microwave energy, not a continuous stream. They probably use a gun like directional device, not a bomb like explosively compressed charged coil like used with a convention EMP weapon. A nuke produces EMP as a side effect and it can be enhanced. They would be operating in the GHZ range and it must be pulsed because it would have been detected if it were a continuous stream.

Anyway, attacking diplomats like that is an act of war and I'm sure the CIA knows more than they are saying, I'm pretty sure Joe wants answers ASAP!
