cree xpe-e

So i have read about the cree xp-e far red leds being benefical during flowering. I am thinking of building myself a setup, but i have a couple questions:

1. should i use just far red or should i have a mix of far red and photo-red?

2. when should i run them? during the whole 12 hour light cycle or a portion there of?

3. how many do i need? It will be a 4x2 flower tent with an 8x50w citizen cob setup mixing 3000k and 3500k

4. should i build a blue bar for my veg tent running 5000k cobs?

thanks for the help

Read the far-red thread that CobKits linked. As I see it, the fundamentals of supplementals are simple:

1. At most a few watts per square foot.
2. Even distribution is critical.

My suggestion? Grab a 2" or 3" heatsink from HeatsinkUSA at the length of your growspace; at every foot place a tristar from Steve's LEDs with one blue, one far red, and one photo red, with separate wiring. Use a driver that supports 350mA-700mA dimming. Then you have a ratio of 1:2 blue:red with per-color control. Place these bars every two feet or so.

So it looks like I should do a bar with just far red 15 minutes before lights out to 15 minutes after lights out on a 12/12 schedule. Is that correct?
