I believe I’m toward the end of my flower stage and was wondering if you decrease your light intensity the last few weeks

I currently have been running 100% and everything has turned out just perfect, but now that the bud seem to be ripening and the fan leaves seem to be burning, I have lowered the intensity of the light. Do you think it is a good idea or bad.

From what I have researched. I’ve read that under natural light toward the end of the season, the sun isn’t as intense.

Maybe it's already enough when you remove some of the lenses, at least those in the center of the fixture.

Lenses usually create hotspots in the center which could be the reason you see light stress within a week or few weeks.

Inside a tent lenses are really not needed! Without lenses you could hang the fixture much closer without getting light stress. Positive side effect no light loss, because such lenses have usually only below 93% transmission rate.

You need no lens for good "penetration", it's diffuse light what reach to the ground, not strong light.
The more diffuse the better.
Diffuse light can yield up to 12% higher compared to strong direct light. For this reason greenhouse growers use diffuse films or something similar on their greenhouses to optimize their crops.

Inside a tent you get more diffuse light from more light sources. You already have a few COB's and lots of overlapping and different light angles allows the rays to reach deeper into the canopy.
Grow films like Orca film or some newer Mylar films(diamond) have an optimized surface and reflects almost all hitting light in a diffuse way. Under microscope it looks almost like a HPS reflector surface.
But diffusers in front of an LED is almost the same like a lens, both cause at least 7% loss or more.
You would benefit little if anything.

I'd take the lenses off for sure. Those are old school and are only good if you're in a big open area trying to contain the light to a certain footprint. HUGE NUGS DUDE.what strain is that and from what breeder?

A seed bank at least, wanted to try out their seeds. So far I’m half way impressed. Have a few more strains to try out. If they are anything like these, I’m sure I’ll order more

Those lights are fantastic!

You have them too close, foxtailing. Harvest lower buds first, let the main cola's mature, they are stunted from too many par.

Turn power down to 25 percent on that fixture for the next 7 days.

I don't know where the heck those strains came from. But I highly doubt that they're selling genuine Ken Estes GDP. You should email them and ask a few questions.

@Porky101 i did lower the intensity on the lights. Thanks

@Airwalker16 yes I did send a few e-mails. Got the pheno b.s. answer and then directed to there forum. I’m pretty sure it’s not a true GDP, I have grown outdoors before and had purple immediately upon flowering. It will be interesting to see what the other stains I got from them will turn out like.

I don’t do this for profit, just pure hobby. So I’m having fun and love what I’m getting. I love to experiment. But of corse don’t like to be dooped by these seed guys claiming one thing selling another.

On a side note. In person these buds are massive and dense. What ever true stain they are, I’m happy.

I thought it had become common practice for breeders to release approximations under the names of the originals. I have a "GDP" freebie from Midweek Song, which I assumed, from the lack of any claims to be the real deal, to be their own take on it.
