Regarding leds and seedlings, what would the symptoms look like for having your cobs to close? Would it be heat stress or bleaching? Any pics?
Man, just remember that seedlings don't need jack shit for light the first week. So just slowly crank your dimmer until you're girls are bushin out and about 8-10" high with 6-10 nodes.
You're waaaay over complicating things and stressing stuff that don't need stressin.

Some folks do for sure lower lights, raise lights, dim lights, etc.....

Once I find the right height to start seedlings and let em grow out and up that's where the light will stay the whole time no muss no fuss and totally un complicated. eazy peazy.

Now if I want to simulate a day where it's not sunny sure I might turn em up and down, but at this juncture I have no plans to do that.

If you heat or light burn seedling it's pretty much cooked. beaching turns white/yellow.

Try taking an indoor plant and sticking in direct sun light for a day you'll see bleaching.

I know I did it with my tomatoes really early this year when they were a few weeks old and it sucked.

Anyhow this is what the seedling is looking like tonight it'll be 4th day in the morning. I still feel they might be a little to low at 32", but I am going go with it and test this out. Btw this is an Autoflowering plant.

Going off of what I have found around the internet... 24-30 inches is the recommended distance for seedlings and 16-24 inches is recommended after the first pair of true leaves develop.

You will know the light is too close when the leaves look bleached.

Well the way I have it figured Is I can just let it grow into the light and deal with the height as it comes.
I still have about 6 inches of room, but not much more. At the end they will be about 24 inches tall That leaves me with 14 inches from top.

When I do a regular 12/12 I will have to managed how tall they get.

Probably only to make sure the plants don't touch the sides much, but nothing planned in depth atm.
That's not to say I might get a wild hair up my ass and change my mind! :D
Im kind of facing that issue, cant do it openly so the plan is to convert a dresser or something and then LST the shit out of them to maintain space, just cant find a used dresser that im satisfied with as far as dimensions go

Well I have 40 inches height to play with max so it's close even with these shorter auto's. As soon as a grow some 12/12's I will be definitely doing something as I only have a little over 2 ft grow height.

I have checked out the spiral lst and that was interesting which might save some height.

Yeah thats the thing of it, with a confined grow you can have limited height but you gotta have some width and length to compensate, or your going to LST all into the walls. Thats whats really holding me at square one, its hard to find a good dresser thats wide enough to accommodate a couple of bent over girls bushing all over the damn place, unless you wanna scrog, and thats just going to be a cluster fuck. You could top or whatever but idk im of a mind to not cut them up as much. Idk the strain ur messing with but yeah, 40 inches is pretty slim at flower. At least you wont have lamp heat to contend with

Could you not use a 4x4 tent?

I want to, and im heavily considering it, but i stay in an apartment, and a shitty one at that. So i get alot of visits by maintenance, pest control, etc. I would rather have an inconspicuous cabinet that i can lock and explain away as a gunsafe or whatever than a grow tent, which can only be so many explainable things. Hence the efficient leds

Ok here we are in the beginning of day 6, All 3 pots now have seedlings started ( I started one at a time. ) The first seedling has a small leaf that has twisted from touching the original first seedling leaves. Hopefully that can work itself out.
Temps are in the 72-82F range Humidity has been 45-80% lights on / off 20/4
( We've had a ton of rain last few days.)
I do not see much stretching at all going on and they are staying short.

24 hours later....Ok it's all good for now I will be posting every few days in my journal. If I come across anything worth noting about the lights and height I will post again. Thanks for all the help!
