Hey all,
I wanted a dedicated fan that I could blow directly on my reservoir to help in keeping the internal temperatures down. The problem was I needed a really small fan that would fit under a little shelve that I built for my UCDWC setup. So while I was making this I decided to take pictures encase someone else needed a little more air flow in a tight area. And yes, I know this isn't anything new.
Parts you will need
Fan, Electrical Tape, Wire Strippers, Wire Cutters, and an old cell or wall charger.
First thing you'll do is locate the different wires on your fan. Most will have an all black wire (ground) a red wire (power), and a yellow wire (completely useless cut it and wrap in electrical tape).
Next I used my wire cutters to cut the three wires, this is to remove the black piece shown above. Of the three wires, I taped off the yellow wire as it is useless (yellow wire is for data reading via computer) and used my wire stripper to expose the red and black lines.
Next I cut the wires from the cell phone charger and split them apart (make sure you leave as much slack as you can in order to reach your targeted area). If you look closely in the picture you will see one of the two black wires has a black and grey pattern, this is your power. The other wire, which is mostly black with white lettering will be your ground (this will vary, so proceed with caution, however, most all black wires are your ground wires)
Once you have determined which line is your power, and which is your ground line you can connect like sources. The way I connect two wires (without soldering, or a cap) is to take one wire and separate the fibers evenly to two sides, I twine each side together, now making two different ends. I do the same thing with the line I will be connecting it to, and than intertwine the two different wires. (See Picture Below)
Once you have the two wires connected, twist the wires together and wrap them well in electrical tape. (See Below)
Next, you simply repeat the same steps for the other line. Once they are joined I like to wrap all modifications I made with electrical tape.
Next plug it in a give it a shot!
Hopefully this helps out some of you who would like a little more air flow in hard to reach spots of your tent / grow room.
