Couple of Basic Newbie Issues

First grow outdoors last summer. Actually did fairly well except for a bit of rot on 2 plants. They were in ground. next outdoor grow will be in pots for better control during very wet periods.

Anyway going to try indoors. i see a lot of posts on SOG vs SCROG. SOG not for me because i'm only growing 3-4 plants at a time. As a newbie is SCROG that great or will i be OK just growing in large pots and trimming lower branches to avoid fluffy buds due to low light?

Secondly I have been told that if i go indoors i need a veg room, a flower room and a room for mother plant.

Will the following scenario work:

I have 4 plants in veg and right before flipping to 12/12 I take some cuttings. Flip to 12/12 and allow clones to root in smaller tent. Grow them in veg stage. After harvest of first batch, move veg plants to larger tent, again take some cuttings and flip to 12/12 etc etc.

In other words do i really need a dedicated mother plant for a small grow instead of just taking cuttings for clones from plants before I send them to flower?

I'd only need 2 tents not three.

Does this sound plausible for a small grow. or am i missing something here.? I just don't see why i need a dedicated mother plant as cuttings will be available from my veg stage plants before flipping.

You don't have to keep mothers, you can just grow from seed or clone to bud.Has long has you have good access to next set of plants.Do plenty of research on getting the best from your plants, but get the room right and you will do fine.I used to take cuttings from the plants that had just been put to flower for a long time, but keeping a dedicated mothers is a far better option, does not have to be a big mother keep her height in check by just topping every chance you get .But to start with I would just do a grow from start to finish,if you do decide to go with keeping a mother ,get a t5 far better for bills ,the plants love those lights .All I use to veg all my plants is a 4 tube T5,sometimes a Mars Hydro 300.That works great too .no heat at all from that light,Make sure you get decent ,fans .Inlet and out let ,also ossalting fans to keep the air moving ,Use Coco it's great and easy to use.

Good Luck

you don't actually need a separate tent for mothers, but you do need a little bigger one. there's no reason you can't keep your mothers and vegging plants in the same tent, as long as they'll fit.
and you don't actually need mothers, but there are some advantages. even if you're growing out of the same batch of seeds, you're going to get plants that are quite different from each other, so you're going to get different finishing times, different sized plants, different nute requirements. you can avoid that, mostly, growing clones from the same mother. i actually do have 3 areas, a 2.5x2.5 area for seedlings and clones, a 3 x 5 area for vegging, and a 4x7 area for flowering, but if i had to, i could combine the seedling and veg areas.

I don't keep mothers. 2 grow spaces. Just clone, veg, flip, then repeat. Till I decide to move on to another strain. Which is about 2 grows..haha
But, I always make some seed stock for future grows:weed:
