Countdown To Cannabis: NL First Place In Canada To Legalize At Midnight Tonight

Newfoundland and Labrador will be the first jurisdiction in all of Canada to legally sell cannabis as of midnight tonight.

One of the country’s most significant public policy shifts will come into effect at midnight when the use and sale of recreational marijuana is legalized and regulated.

Canada is only the second country in the world to legalize the recreational use of cannabis – the first was Uruguay in 2013.

Only licenced, registered retailers are allowed to legally sell marijuana products.

Many local retailers are already set up to start selling cannabis at 12:01, but must close their doors at 2:00 a.m..

A Legalization Celebration is taking place tonight at The Natural Vibe (formerly The Healthy Vibe) on Water Street starting at 11:00.

Thomas Clark, who owns Thomas H. Clark Distributors in Portugal Cove-St. Philips will sell his first gram of weed to his own father at 12:01 tonight. He told the VOCM Roundtable on Cannabis, that he can’t wait.

He says it’s not just business for him, but a major shift culturally as well.

Cannabis 2018, a VOCM Round Table, will air this afternoon at 4:00 p.m..

Not that it matters since I've been medically legal for many years now but I'm gonna spark up a fat one at midnight anyways. What the hell? lol.
Me too. I think it's more of a celebration of the dawn of a life-long goal or dream than anything. I've spent 40 years working toward this moment. It won't be perfect in the beginning, but it's better than any where else in the world. Not much will change for me either, but it is a historic day for the country. There's a celebration at midnight in St. John's and I was trying to find a live stream. nada..
