could an advanced dwc grower answer a few questions?

GROW INFORMATION: My grows consists many different strains from seeds in a large rubbermaid container, 60gal whisper fish pump, 4 large netty pots filled with large rock wool cubes, 500watts of 6500k florescents for veg and a 400watt hps for flowering. i veg in one closet and flower in a second closet. im using advanced nutrients grow, micro and bloom. i also use a MH ppm meter and grotek ph tester strips. ph is between 5.5 and 6.0

questions:

1) should i soak the rock wool in any nutrient solution, if so how much of the grow micro and bloom?

2) 1st week of flowering. my rubbermaid container filled to the bottom of the netty pots are about 30L of water...the instructions on the back of my advanced nutrients says 1.82ml/L...1.82x30=54.6ml per liter. it says it should have a ppm of 1000 (mild flowering) but when i add the nutrients my ppm meter reads 763ppm. do i add more nutrients until my ppm meter reads 1000 or do i just follow how much the instructions tell me to add per liter?

3) in a few weeks when the roots touch the water in the reservoir should i have 1/4 strength grow micro and bloom or just grow and micro?

4) my plants are now in 2nd week of flowering 12/12. say 970ppm. the water in my reservoir goes down about 4 litres every day. do i add back 4 litres of water or do i add nutrients in with it?

5)after mild flowering it says add 2.70ml/L and says 1200ppm. how do much should nutrients should i add...do i add small amounts and slowly raise or do i just add the amount it says all at once. after i add the amount of nutrients it says and my ppm meter isnt reading 1200 what do i do?

6) does adding water staright from a tap hurt the plants...or do i have to leave it over night in a bucket?

1) No just 5.5 ph'd water

2) Don't worry about this. When it's time to add nutes 150-200ppm should be your floor then just keep bumping it up 50 or so ppm with the addbacks and nute changes.

3) It should be 1 week or less from healthy rooted clone to touch down in my experience. As for the second part its really up to you. For the 2 part Nova series some people just use bloom all the way through as it is basically the correct ratio lucas suggested formula. But you already bought the 3 part grow though so just use that as per their feeding schedule or lucas formula.

4) First measure ppm, then add back water to make the system whole, measure ppm again, the difference is what your plants are eating if that makes sense. It is THEN that you add nutes to bump 25-50ppm higher then previously measured.

5) Your getting too hung up on numbers and figures. Many people grow DWC with stellar results sans EC PPM meters entirely... Play it by ear man, look at your plants not the F*ing meter mate! You'll get the hang of it quickly as DWC is somewhat forgiving nutrient wise.

6) 'The simple answer is no. Obviously this depends on whether your tap is connected to city or well water and what municipality your in. I have a feeling your on a big island somewhere ;) so I'd say the water there varies greatly. FWIW I use water straight from my city faucets with no problem. I can smell faint chlorine but i don't think it affects healthy plants too much and I feel it helps prevent algae from gaining a foothold.

Cheers!

i think i might give the dwc a run just because i like what happenns to the plants who roots make it down to the res in my flood and drain setups. i gave aero a shot with a fogger but wasnt that happy with it

Thanks a million for the help man. im growing white rhino and northern lights cross. this is my first hyro grow ever (ill never go back to soil). the plants are the greenest and healthiest i've ever had for a grow, until i started reading to much into ppm and fucking with nutrients lol. the plants are very healthy still, just not perfect. i get a little confused when the directions say 1000ppm for mild flowering and im at 400ppm lol id like to be at the optimal range for the plants to get as much of what they need to grow better, stronger and faster.

Just take baby steps pushing the nutes, if you really feel you are that far under where you think you need to be push hard (+200-400ppm), but watch your plants leaves closely and be prepared to drain and dilute if they start throwing a fit.
