cost vs effectiveness

hi im trying to figure out if I should go with 2 or 3 t5 light (8 bulb) fixtures or should i go with 2 hps 600 watt lights. I know the hps are generally better but would the cost be worth it because i don't know how much the difference in cost is for a couple t-5s vs a couple hps 600 watters. any advice here would be appreciated
Also im using a 76" by 76" by 76" grow tent

I would definitely go with the 2 HPS if I were you

There are probably better options, but of those 2 I would go with the HID

So long as heat won't be an issue the 2x HID 600w will deff give you way more in return for your investment, just make sure to get both mh and hps bulbs to take advantage of them.

Well you can listen to everyone else who is paying for it, or you could step "outside" of the HID point of view and take a look at Super High Output LEDs, I was going for 2x 250w HID for my grow until I found the New LED grow lights, Im going to order a 126w Penetrator Pro, and order another when I have enough cash. The bigger and better the model the more efficient and intense it will be than HID, but not the same coverage area, running at half the watts and temps(105F)
They do cost a lot, but make up for it in energy saved, heating costs, and whatever other problems come with HIDs

Before anyone talks shit take a look and do some research on the New High Output LEDs, a few companys have them but only one has been proven better than HIDs as far as efficiency, 1 gram per watt is more than easy with these bad boys.

Ill be starting a Big thread on these when I get mine, but go on youtube and look at some of the grows done with these LEDs.

Watch out for Hydrogrowled imo. Her business is really creepy. She was recently banned from icmag and 420magazine.

The hard thing is getting a quality led panel with highly efficient leds and built properly and isn't run by a douche. Most people here whine; leds cant grow a shit and that's because they watched generic crappy chinese made panels that barely put out any light at all.

Most of the good LED grows I read were of people dissing her and raving about her competitors LED lights
She does have a very attractive website though! And I'm sure their products probably do work well (just not as well as She claims). Watt for watt, her lights are probably as good as any other decent LED light. But I think they charge too much.

i used to grow with 2 4ft t12 shop lights now im ordering a 400 watt hps mh swithable but i wont knock nither cause i got awsome weed with floros but not great yelds thats y im switching

LED's will never replace HID's not even in 100 years. there will be other kinds of lighting that will surpass HID maybe plasma light maybe induction light or some new tech but LED's just proved their failure to grow as good as HID. so for all LED growers, swallow your losses from getting ripped from buying LED and stop givin advice for others to do the same, and buy some HPS i promise you will never regret. i have yet to find one grower who switched from HPS to LED and got better results... it's sad how much marketing hypes sell!!!

You should see the 300 LED vs 400w MH/HPS grow his friend ran on that site. They convinced me, I'm going to get their 300 unit at the end of January. Its $999 sure, but it will be worth it to me since the value of even its first crop would be more than enough to pay for the unit.

Which LED unit is it there are many out there that work some much better than others. I figure for 999$ your getting a pretty damn good unit I would hope lol.

Anyway HPS! or Flouros anyday. HPS over LED even. I'm currently trying a HPS/LED combo in my flowering room and loving it. I think I will keep my 2 600w HPS forever but end up adding more LED around them. Anyway best of luck

P.S. Check out the LED company Kessil there setting the standard in LED technology.

wow thank you guys for all the advice, i was leaning alot more towards the hps lights in the beginning and you guys nailed the hammer in the coffin now. lol
But i would like to add maybe a couple of led's around the tent so that the under buds would still get a good amount of light, good idea?

Nah you should either go HPS or LED all the way. Just don't grow too much in too small a space that you need side/under lighting

hey man i only like to help out growers succeed, i dont advertise for anyone, get HPS any brand just a growlight HPS and you wont regret it. someone with a couple hundred posts like myself might even show you a nice bud and tell you that it was grown under LED or CFL or watever. this means shit. i suggest you look for people with high rep who seem to know more and ask them what they think is right. i tell ya anyone tryin to convince you to get a 999$ LED is a dick. get what really works not just what can give you a bud. add some poundage to your grow get HPS but then i think that you might buy LED's anyway becuz they are so well advertised for the simple fact that they seem like a spaceship light LMAO give people the impression theyr somethin new when really they have been for decades in that vcr light... go ask some pros, there are many here in RIU
