sweet corn fields are a lot shorter than standard corn, and the tassels on top are more prevalent than on regular field corn, also sweet corn is harvested months before field corn, because field corn needs to develop into a hardened seed
tnx for the valuable input on the differences between field and sweet corn ( i call field corn cattle corn cause its used for cattle here)

in my country the farmers in the area only grow cattle corn though so they always leave it to October
well nearly all
i lost one field with 20 plants with a very nice and potent cross cause that particular farmer chose to harvest in the last week of September :cuss:

What about detassling? Isnt that a risk of plants being discovered? I want to do a guerilla grow next season and corn fields are plentiful where I live.

I detasseled for a few days trying make beer money in college years and years ago. Tough way to make a buck, lol. No detasselling in sweet corn fields I would guess only *some* seed corn fields?

this year im doing a 1000+ plant grow
same way as last season just 10 the amount
cant plant them out until mid May due to pesticides being used at the fields but im going to start sprouting very soon and they will be pre grown in my own garden then put out in the corn by mid May
8 different fields with a radius in between so i can use them for seed grows

So i am considering a corn grow since around here thats all there is. Wold you reccomend it due to the pesticides and is the soil good so that I wold not have to bring soil? Should I add any soil additives to it for better results? Does it need fertilzer? An should i use organic or chemical? Prefer Organic.:weed:

first post.

Im doing a corn grow too. Ive got about 10 cornfields within walking distance, so i decided i would give it a try this year. Its all feed corn so its harvested late october to early november, so its in my growing window (SE PA). Ive only got one general question, what should the ph of the soil be?

oh and one other thing. Should i plant (Germinated seed) at the same time the corn is planted? if not how long after?

when around these ERxDP's finish, i had my hands PPx(ERxDP)xDC around 10seeds i plan to plant this spring. and sum GG + LR2xUK08, i'm thinking a month or half more pregrow is wise thing to do since i predict september is already below zero nights.
