Cooltube advice

I'm setting up my tent today and I'm a bit worried about the temp in there. If I need to add a cooltube does it have to have its own fan?
I'm thinking that seeing as I'll be running a ruck 125mm for extraction, can I use it to suck air through the carbon filter at the top of the tent then via ducting through the cooltube and out through the fan?

Cool tubes do not come with fans you could pul the air as you said but you need a strong fan to ensure adequate cooling and ventilation. good luck man

What king of fan is it? Blower type fans can move air through ducting better but those cheaper inline fans are not so good at that. A 295m3/hr fan should work for that size space how big is your light?

I looked up your fan and its a blower type in-line so it should be able to pull through your duct work without a problem. How much heat is that light producing in the tent now? I'm planning a similar setup with a 400w HPS in a tent with a cool tube.

It's not set up yet, the courier should deliver it some time early this morning:mrgreen:
I was running the 400w in a smaller space but it got way too hot so I've ordered the xl bud box, I'm just a bit worried that it might still be too hot in there.
I'll set it up as soon as it arrives and post some figures.
Cheers for the help.

I've just purchased a 1*1*2 m tent and i'll be running a 600w HPS in there... is that too much? i don't have a cool tube but am thinking i'll need to invest in one. i was hoping to just have one strong exhaust fan at the top, running constantly during light period and every 30min or so during dark period for pulling out the heat and ventillating.
when i get it up and running i'll let you know what size/type of fan i'm using and the average temp during each period is.
keep us posted so i can refer and adjust for a little more heat:blsmoke:

As you may have seen by my other post I've been a bit of a muppet and bought a bud box that doesn't fit in my loft.
I'll be modding the loft today to make it fit and then I'll get straight on with testing so I can post some figures.
( This is presuming I get it fitted before my mrs gets home from work and takes me out to dinner, I'm 30 today! )

Thanks Newgrowth, Twas a very romantic evening but I'm afraid no weed was smoked. Still there's more than one way to have fun.:hump:
Since moving house I've had real trouble getting hold of a regular supply, and unfortunately I smoke for pain relief (sadly not legal in the uk)as well as recreation so I find it hard to put any away for the proverbial rainy day or special occasion.

Anyway, back to the tent.

To recap for anyone who's interested, It's a bud box xl with a 400w hps, and a ruck 125mm 295m3/hour fan with carbon filter (passive intake) and I've been experimenting to see if it will need a cool tube.

It's been running all day and so far the highest temp has been 23.5deg c (74.3deg f).
It's not a particularly hot day here so the jury's still out, if I'm to avoid going over the magic 80deg f (26.6deg c) I might still need a cool tube.

Interestingly the temp was taken at about a 2 feet from the bottom of the empty tent with the lamp about a foot above the thermometer. yet the temp at the top of the tent never went above 22degc (71.6deg f), so I might just get away with raising the lamp a bit.

I'm going to put the plants in tonight which should be fine for now,
and I'll just have to keep an eye on things when the weather improves.

On the bright side a mate just texted to say he's got me some weed:mrgreen:
