cooling question

my friend has a room. 5000 watts. he is pulling in new air from outside and exhausting outside in a different location. the temps outside have been in the upper 90's. he runs his lights at night. his daytime temp (lights off) is in the 80's. he bought a HUGE A/C unit. the problem is, the exhaust is venting the room to fast to allow the A/C to cool it. what should he do? thanks. :blsmoke:

what about those fan dimmer things & dialing it down some?

he's running two 6 inch inline fans into the attic at the moment. i told him to shut one down. he's gonna try that tomorrow. i suggested an A/C window unit but he doesn't seem to think it will work. right now he just has duct work over the window for intake. i think he can find a nice little unit to fit in there. i'm not sure how it would handle the suction of the exhaust pulling on it though.

something like one of these .........

just a thought, why does he have the exhaust sucking from the bottom of the room? Wouldn't it make more sense to put an A/C unit into that space (where the exhaust is now) and put a passive (or active) exhaust high up in the room to suck out the heated air?

that's the intake. the exhaust goes into the ceiling ....... IMG_7140.jpg

Hi Fdd,

Are the lights air cooled? Couldn't he cool the lights with air directly from the outside, through the lights, and exhausted back outside. If feasable, this would remove a lot heat without exhausting the whole room. then the AC could cool the room.

i dunno... just a thought.

He need a climate controller to turn on and off the fans and regulate fan speed as well as control the A/C unit.

hhmmmmm. that's something that might be workable.

might need another fan to refresh the air in the room from time to time though... or you run co2 if your not exchanging the air.

I always wanted a closed circuit grow room like that.

only way to go i think,,:hump:

the temp outside is 100 degrees though. the problem is when the lights are off.

If the lights are off, then why is he running the fan?? :-?

Seems like he should just be running the AC without the fan during the dark period..

I agree install a couple photosensor switch so the A/C turns on when the lights are off and then and couple fans turn off. I personally would not set up a grow of that size w/o a climate controller just my 2cents.

mite be time for him to spented more money?

sealed room running ac/Dehumidifier and co2.or just the window ac.

bummer when out side air is to hot to use.

New Growth has it. Seen this before and make sure the timers on all your electronics keep the temp. play around with them and make sure they stay under 80 during sleep or hit 75... release me......aaaa hhh yeeeeaaaa.. sorry Pearl Jam is on. .
Keep the babies at Perfect temp as you already know and they will give us back what they were made to be, Lovely Smoke.
