Controlling humidity & why it's important

I'm just not going to buy them anymore. After nosing around I've came across a breeder who loves purple strains. Big worm & exotic genetics will get my seed dollars.
Purple is fun.

I am curing this Blue Lemon thai now.

Came from the purple plant in front. Never had so much purple on one of these

They sell chemicals that kill bugs, birds eat bugs. Birds die. ;)
Many chemicals sold as insecticides kill bugs - organic chems kill bugs - all those can be eaten by birds too.

So by your logic - insecticide makers kill bugs and birds by proxy. I can dig that but, That exact thing is very rare indeed. Nowadays.

Scott's used an insecticide, made by another company (they don't make insecticides, only use them and in less places then many think) In the case in question. They mixed insecticides with seeds to prevent bugs while in storage. Birds eat seeds - that killed birds, not the bugs...They were sued for that and lost. They don't use insecticides that way anymore - they are monitored on that.

See Lola's link...

Just to let you know - Weed and feed lawn ferts are simply high NPK ratio's to make a lawn fill in and choke out weeds - no anti weed chems in them...
Grub killing ferts are to kill grubs and thus moles don't dig around in your suburbia/rural home. They use a natural bacteria or fungus to do that (a form of BT). Not a "chemical".

I hate Imid - kills Bee's and causes colony collapse.....imid is used buy the almond industry on their trees. This is mostly in Cali.....Then bee colony's are trucked in to pollinate the trees. OOpsy! The industry that needs the bee's the most. Is killing the thing that makes the product possible......That is just and example, plenty more people use imid...

It's harder to add RH in low RH situations, and maintain it, then to remove it.

Depending on how big an area is, the plant count , and their size. You can cycle less often......
So, how big and count/size of plant?

Running Co2 requires high RH and temps on a bell curve - the higher the target ppm.

I tightly control my temps to 71-74 and RH to 40-44 %
This amount is lower then the VPD chart says. I feed at a rate and frequency that is basically "normal". The RH helps increase transpiration and thus does the "pushing" of the nutrients in the soil and the plant reflects that (leaf tip yellow - just showing). I shoot for that on purpose.

I find the VPD as a bit off for what we really want to achieve.
Our considerations are:

Nutrient up-take near safe limits (pushing - if you like)
Reduced chance of molds and mildews
Increased needs by Co2 supplementation (Here IS where you need to follow the VPD chart).

General info for years has been 70 F and 50% RH.....I agree. You know why "I" run lower.....Why many of us do.

Big Buds mag is the propaganda RAG for AN......Any time they bring up one of their products in a piece and make claims about how their "made for MJ" nutrient does unbelievable things. They are exactly that - unbelievable....

Some interesting info once in a while......Not often enough to regularly read it....sorry if you don't like my opinion - It is what it is..

If you can set a gas system up to maintain your area at a 400-500ppm rate. You won't need to run that exhaust and temps /RH should be easy to maintain.
I was struggling with bringing the humidity up and I added two big broccoli plants to the grow room. Brought the humidity right up. Nothing else worked for me. Removed them last week to drop the humidity back down during flower haha. If you have the room and the pros agree I say just ass other plants to the space

This is a bad idea as different plants attract different pests and disease. Increasing the chances for bringing something harmful into the Grow room in my opinion.

Also. Wasted space under the lights is very expensive. I'm not growing veggies under my hid's.

Don't blindly listen to advice here please. Or on any open forum.

When I read something that interest me here then I go to work cross referencing for actual scientific proof.

Most posters are proven wrong I am sorry to say.

Some examples. Flushing, adding lime to pre limed soil, pk boosters, adding sugar during ripening. Cal mag, Etc.

I don't believe in flushing ( thanks to my bf) I take it all with a grain of salt. If ever I were to face humidity issues I'll use my humidifier to bring it up and my dehumidifier to bring it down. I did fall for the brown sugar trick when I grew a plant outside once!! Lmaooo @ myself on that one. I actually research things that I find interesting, and I'm not the one to try out unproven methods around my lil plants. Thank you for the smooth warning because some are here to sabotage.
( not referring to the broccoli post as sabotage)

Nice! I spoke out of turn then.

And I didn't think the broccoli post was to sabotage anything. I just don't think it is a good idea inside a Medical garden.

I can't really agree with that. Bringing any plant in from outdoors is definitely a big no-no but growing companion plants with your pot plants can be a big help. Like the RH thing or attracting bugs that wander in to them first then getting them out with the bugs. A lot of plants repel bugs too like garlic and chrysanthemums. Plenty more but I'm not up on all of them.

I grok the using up valuable space thing tho. Wife has two lemon trees in my veg space I want to get rid of. They already survived an "accidental" drying out ;) so it's time they took up space in the shop window or go outside never to see the inside of my grow space again.

:peace:

Companion planting outside I know about. When we put our grapevine down we planted basil and geraniums( near ) at the advice of the nursery.
