Don't forget the republican party isn't what it's suppose to be. Legalizing cannabis embodies much more of a republican ideal then a democratic one. Dems would like to see it regulated and controlled by the government, republicans(at least by definition, again the party isn't really republican anymore) are more for free market total legalization with no government interaction. Republicans are all about low taxes and small governement. Democrats think they know best and that the average citizen isn't smart enough to make their own decisions. They want to tax you blind and contorl every aspect of your life.

Republicans, IMO do so many things better then the democrats, and I agree so much more with their political views but they shoot themselves in the foot by involving things like religion and social issues(gay marrige, welfare, etc.) in politics. I could never stand behind a party that openly spouts off ignorant comments like, "being gay is like being an alcoholic" - the guy that said that is the fucking governer of texas! That's what's wrong with this country...an entire state was ok with him saying that. I can't believe he wasn't forced to resign after that! What if he said, "being retarted is a sin" that backwards state would cheer him on.

Im convinced the two party system was set-up to confuse the general population. This way, if one party isn't doing a good job we feel like we'll have an oppurtunity to elect a different party come election time. It makes us think we have a choice, or options, but like we've all concluded there really isn't a difference in the two and the politicians are all laughing at us.

On a side note, the biggest problem with our political system is CAREER POLITICIANS. The founding fathers NEVER wanted anything like that. The entire point of becoming a politician was suppose to be a public servant. Prominent community leaders and go-getters were to leave their respected professions and be public servants for their term, then return back to their old professions. This ensured that they were in it for the right reasons, as far as I'm concearned being paid to be a politician is a major conflict of interest! Think about it, you and your entire family are set for life if you become a politician- they will lie, cheat, and steal and do everything in their power to maintain the privledges and monetary perks that come with it.

science is pretty clear that the most "confused" among us are people with attitudes like yourself.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8772014

The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.
