sto true; none of us will be able to. It will be a big money game for a while. I just hope it works for patients.

I don't want to minimize the importance of this, but I thought they were the 17th State. Hopefully we will have 20 MMJ states by the end of the year.

...Also not to take away your golden moment good CT people, but remember that many of us who are currently in legal MMJ states are still being harrassed and/ or prosecuted. Treat your new found plant freedom as a gift, as many others are still fighting this horrible war on 'drugs'.

Thanks for the clarification Rollitup. CT is the 18th state, but I included Washington DC as a district-- when they are counted, CT is the 19th State/District.

@ MacGuyver - my glee is somewhat tempered, but it's still a good day for us. I hope our state can avoid some of the 'growing pains' Colorado has experienced.

Somebody's confused (in addition to me). Here is the list of states with Medical Marijuana from Norml's website (http://norml.org/legal/medical-marijuana-2)

1- Alaska
2- Arizonia
3- California
4- Colorado
5- Delaware
6- (Washington DC)
7- Hawaii
8- Maine
9- Maryland
10- Michigan
11- Montana
12- Nevada
13- New Jersey
14- New Mexico
15- Oregon
16- Rhode Island
17- Vermont
18- Washington

19- Connecticut (not yet listed)

Did one of the states rescind their MMJ?

I don't know, either, Bro! I was just parroting what NORML said.

I'll give Keith a call.

Thanks! The issue may be with Maryland, which allows for MMJ (or at least an 'afirmative defense' for mj posession), but does not yet have the mechanisms in place for caregivers.

I believe your right there Nitegazer. I would not consider Maryland a Medical state and I don't know any one who lives there that would consider it one. However, I would be shock if that doesn't happen soon.

Thanks Snew,

I would be fine changing the title to CT being the 18th, but I seem unable to edit the first post of the thread. Rollitup, if you're out there, feel free to edit the title of this thread if you like.

So has the bill been officially signed? When will people be able to begin to apply for mmj and how?

The bill has not yet been signed, but since the bill originated out of the governor's office, he is expected to sign, and signaled he will sign when it comes to his desk.

The law goes into effect on Oct.1, but it will take some time to set up the distribution network of growers and pharmacies. Remember that there are no private growers or compassion clubs in this law. I would imagine the first purchase of official MMJ will not be for a couple of years. There may be some growers in CT friendly to the MMJ cause that will provide meds to patients in the mean time, however. ;-)
