13 gallons of Ph 5.4. R.O. water..added 25% strength of technaflora recipe for success...330PPM..checked Ph 2 hrs later and it jumped to 6.3. Why?

it is very common to have ph swings for the first couple of days in a new res.

Yes but if it is to swing UP then shudnt i Ph down it? And i read NOT to add calmag cause it will reach plant when it drifts up. Mite get bigger res but for only 2 plants? Thanks guys..all help is needed!

you said your ro water ph was 5.4 then you add the nutes? did you check ph after adding nute? i start my res's at 5.4-5.6 depending on where i want them to be after initial rise.

weird. i have read you need to add it or you will end up with cal/mag defeciencies. what is ment by it will reach the plants when it drifts up? r/o water has all the chemicals removed.

Thanks Superstoner1..yeah i checked it after adding..shot up to 6.3..used 20% strength technaflora (calculated 20..not by my eye)
so i ended up dropping it down to 5.7 with sulfuric acid..actual PH down not here yet. Ironically I purchased Adv. Nute. PH UP first and it appears I don't even need it. duh...

Dank smoker420 I believe you are correct...my RO is definitely ppm 0 and after further reading..the vast majority of people add some sort of cal/mag..I use magiCal. My leaves have the claw/taco look. Added extra magiCal this morning..2 more teaspoons.. PPM is only 310-320 but that's ok for now. Oh..and Ph is 5.8...THANKS!

I always look at it like this, mix the nutes in there one at a time, get a circulation pump that mixes the water 24/7 (aquarimum store) check ph when you clean and fill, than keep the meter by the tank, I checked mine almost every day with the digital meter. I just add ph up and down as needed to keep in my selected range. It is work but it is farming nothing is easy.

Also I clean the res every other week, hot water, soap and clean it good like new. If you are just flushing you dont know what you are leaving behind and after a few days of new water sitting in there you might be remixing old nutes. I did not like that ring or crust so I get down and scrup it every two weeks and once a week during flower. Hope this helps.

Ok..will try that with the nutes..usually i just dump them in all at once (with Boost first of course) Technaflora i use. I have a circulation pump I could use...I empty the res and clean it 7 to 10 days..(move plants to other container while I clean)..using hot water..soap..sometimes hydrogen peroxide (i used h202 on my airstones yesterday and forgot to rinse them off..wondered if that didn't mess with my Ph level as well, especially since my reservoir is so small (18 gallon tote with 13 gallons of water) It helps...I'm just a sponge..trying to soak up all that is given and I appreciate your input. Keep the comments coming..good..bad..ugly...I don't take stuff personal..never understood people who do! Be eZe.
