Hi all,

Got a tent set up in a room, but the condensation build up is ridiculous. Got a humidifier in on the scene, but it's not helping. The humidifier is ample for the room size, and extracts its quota of 10 litres. I have placed the humidifier just outside the room, as it stated in the instructions. Any ideas please help.

don't put it outside the room...put it inside the room to pull the moisture out that's in there...who gives a fuck what the humidity levels are outside the room...its inside the room and inside the tent you are worried about. Condensation occurs when the humidity is high enough and the walls are too cold...either way if you've got condensation forming your humidity is WAY too high :D

Yeah, agree with above, and I hope its a DEhumidifier, not a humidifier. If its the later no wonder you are having problems...

Thanks for that, but just to clarify ...

1, It's a dehumidifier
2, When said it's outside the room, I mean literally in the door way.

How else can I reduce the humidity, and would it be an idea to put the dehumidifier in the tent ? Or am I just going off on one....

Once again, appreciate the advice

cheers Massah, I'll try with it in the tent, if that doesn't help I've got an ac on the way with a built in Dehumidifier. If that doesn't help i'll come back with precise details. Either that or knock out the windows...

Any other way to control humidity, i.e with bigger air in fans...?

Thanks

Ok so I guess I have to ask now...what is the humidity in your tent? What is the humidity in the room where the tent resides?

it's about 40 and 55% - OK - here goes - Specifics......

Tent 1 - 2mx2mx2m
Room size - 3mx2.4mx2.7m
Filter is an 8" carbon
Air in - (yes I know this is a little fucked) 5" - Not yet put up the 10"
Air out - 8"

Tent 2 - 1.2mx2mx2m
Room size - 2.2mx2.3mx2m
Filter is the new ones - blue plastic, very light, corrugated on the inside. Can't see any carbon in it. Does the job though
Air in - 6"
Air out - 6"

Temp in both around 28 c
Both suffering from condensation on the windows

Tent 1 & 2 - Both rooms set up the same...
Air is a slight problem as the "air in" duct is just next to the window(condensation window)
Air out is laying on the floor by the door

Rectify away please....................

wait...windows of the room or windows of the tent? If its windows of the room...you need new windows LOL...if its a single pane glass window thats your major issue right there...if its a double paned glass window(pocket of xenon gas i think it is in between two pieces of glass) then its lost its seal and isn't insulating and should be replaced ;)

Your humidity is fine...unless you can get the humidity down to like under 20% you are going to get condensation on those windows...and that dehumidifier isn't going to help :D

:D
I think you hit the nail on the head..... Yes it's single pane glass..........WTF do I do now ? Moving/relocating/double glaze old windows/jump through the windows are not an option...There's got to be a way around it......????
so pack the dehumidifier away??

Hold up I just read that if you heat the surface area around the windows that may help. Fortunately like most places, the radiators are near the windows.

with single pane glass windows your problem is how cold it is outside...cold window = condensation on the inside...to prevent that the window industry created double pane insulated windows, so the glass on the inside doesn't get as cold as the glass on the outside, and doesn't allow condensation to form.

So yer pretty much fucked...you can try putting plastic on the outside of the window...they make kits at home depot/walmart/etc that you slap on the outside and heat it up with a hair dryer to shrink it on to the window.
