compressing buds

I have been seeing buds that can not possibly grow that dense in nature. I suspect people are usng vacuum bags to compress these buds. Anyone hear of this?

Yeah man most compressed bud comes from large cartel operations in Mexico. They compress it into bricks so more can be brought across the borders at one time and also so thu can fit more bud in small areas like car interiors and parts.

nah i dont think he is talking about brick...

some buds just grow that dense...
ive vacuumed sealed some nice fluffy nugs and they bounce right back when opened, on the other hand dry fluffy nugs will just crumble in a vacuum sealer

Every time I've had rock hard nugs, they have been the shit! Not easy to get your babies that dense so if you ask me solid nugs=experienced grower=great medicine.

I know what you're talking about. My cousin came over from MN with some medical that was like a rock but still in the shape of a nug. No idea why, wondered the same thing you are.

Not brick weed but similar.

These were rock hard and very heavy. I have had solid buds, but I'm talking about ones so hard you can not squeeze them or see any calyxes.

I'm betting they put them in those vacuum storage bags for a few days. Once crushed and the resins allowed to harden, it should produce that effect.

Only problem is you don't want to rupture trichomes.

Ive heard of people rolling there buds between there hands when they are done drying/curing, to get them to stick into a very tight nug shape, I dont like this though, get crystals all over your hands that you could be smoking.

I know of one guy that does that very same thing. (outdoor summer crops)
Then he uses his thumb and rolls presses the resin in his palm and collects it. Very nice smoke like hash.
The buds dry hard. Smokes well,,, but I wonder how much is robbed from the bud with this rolling?
The rolling is not heavy handed to start,, but eventually gets there.
There is a name for the style but I forget it now. Think it's a Jamacan or India form / style?
I'll need to ask him again. Was too burnt to pay attention at the time.

I think it's more of a strain thing than a grower thing. You need the right seeds to start with - then your plant needs the right caring. I find that the nugs closest to my lights become the most dense. One of my Jack Herer phenos grow very dense nugs.

Indica dom plants tend to have thicker buds. The last time I got some indoor it was rock hard nugs, tasted kind of like dill, wasn't really impressed with potency either. Density doesn't mean it is going to be good, but it has that 'bag appeal' that buyers like.

I think the style of hash you are describing is called Charas, very popular in india.

As for bud density goes strain and lights play a huge part. HPS produces very dense nugs. Couple that with my Bubba Kush whose nugs can be used for self defense and you have some pretty dense buds.

Blue Moonshine produces rock hard nugs, calyxes like pebbles. Got a cannabis (Chemdawg D x SpaceDawg) With some rock hard nugs on it.

I know what you're talkin about, I've seen it too and wondered why my buds are so diff from those rock-hard crystal covered buds.

I always thought it was because it was really dry so it shrunk and became really compacted.

but I have my first harvest of TGA gear coming up and these look like they could be pretty dense when dry.

I can tell you from experience that lots of dealers do in fact use the method of vaccum sealing there shit to form hard clusters, ive done it, yet the process starts at the curing stage becouse if you cure long enough the buds start to come together like a knot anyway but if you dont have the patience then you can tight wrap or vaccum them up the only bad thing about that is you lose a lot of your crystal bag apeal, once you remove your bud...Peace And what ever you do be sure that your bud is really dry before doing it or else..

I know its extremely old, but no has answered the orignal question. The procees is called pressing or compressing bud and it's used to make the weed look more desirable especially when its a little on the "airy" side. Mostly dealers do this through lack of care or shipping in masses, but alot do it on purpose. It gives off a more dense look and is just more pleasing to the eye when done correctly than fluffy buds making it easier to distribute.
Buds can't be brittle dry for this. they tkae them put it in sandwich bags and wrap around and press at all angles. For an airy bud, you will get a denser more desirabl looking vibrant nug..
hope this answer anyone that falls on this in thte future.

-how do i know this? lets just keep it at, im lending a helping hand. you can either use it or lose it, just tryna help..

All the weed I used to get was M39 and was INSANELY dense. I remember a Q of M39 would look like about 3grams of less condensed weed.

I only grow rock-hard bud; that's what my market demands. There's no magic to it; it's genetics, genetics, light intensity and more light intensity, cure, genetics, environment, genetics, cure, light intensity, environment, cure, genetics and light intensity. Did I mention that it's mostly driven by genetics and light intensity, with the cure and the environment following the way?
