i was sitting here trying to think of a way to grow organically in hydroponics....
if i used coco coir or peat and vermiculite
and made some compost tea to use for nutrients and used kelp or molasses to feed the microbial activity
would this work

Maybe but, it may be difficult to set an accurate feeding schedule for the tea. It may work but I would do it outside because I don't care what anybody says the tea has an interesting aroma and inside may be a little intrusive to the nostrils

I meant your tea, you have to keep feeding it carbs to keep it alive but not to much to over power the plant.

I was chilling by this stream the other day and noticed all these beautiful white roots in the stream... I kept following the roots up, and they lead to a massive tree about 20 feet from the stream... I looked more closely at the stream and roots and the tree had a gigantic root mass flowing down the stream. Anyway, I think I'm going to try a stream water bubble bucket

i think the plant produces sugars and whatnot from the roots to feed the microbial activity
the molasses is used to feed the tea while its brewing

If your worried about overloading with sugars try a steeping method instead. The compost nutes will leech into the water instead of having to brew. Watch this

This is not me, it is a very interesting video a stumbled upon.
