Composition of a Perpetual Grow - Clones, Seedlings and Re-grows

I was helping a guy design a perpetual grow set-up and mentioned I use clones, re-grows and seedlings to fill out my 2-plant-a-week perp grow. He had some questions so I wrote it for anyone who might be interested. As I have refined my grow over the years I find my composition breaks down roughly to 80% clones, 10% re-grows and 10% seedlings from beans.

My perpetual grow requires my flowering room (1000W HPS) to accommodate plants from just-out-of-veg to harvest. I realized that I could best control the plant to light problem with plants that grow predictably alike. The best way to produce like plants over time is an ongoing cloning operation. So most of my flowering room space is made up of clones I have generated in my domes. Needing 2 plants a week means I usually take 3 clones and keep the hardiest 2. But there are times when I use seedlings to try out one or more of the freebies I've accumulated for being such a good customer of Attitude. Also, I keep pretty good notes on every plant and will often find a plant that is unusual. Might have multiple main colas or just be particularly bushy or otherwise an attractive plant. These become re-grows and there is usually at least one re-grow flowering at any time among the 12-15 plants at 12/12.

One other thing - my buddy said the most valuable info he got out of me was the advice that he would need 3 to 4 times as much floor space for flowering as vegging.

Good luck, BigSteve.
