Does it say on the box how many K it is?? I'm still trying to figure out the whole light thing..
Yea it usually tells you in the bottom corner on the front, depending on the package. look around a home depot or lowes, they have a wide selection of cfls

Yeah it should tell you on the package. Sometimes you gotta look REALLY closely. 5500k-6500k is a whiter/bluer light which mimics the springtime sun and 2700k-3000k is a yellower light which mimics the fall sun. "K" stands for kelvin btw. There are plenty of threads where you can read up on lighting. There's a LOT to know. Do a lot of research before you get started and you will save a lot of money. But if you wanna get started just sprout a bag seed under a light. You'll probably fail your first time anyway and the experience is good.

Go ahead and save up some money and buy a T5. Thats the way to go when u start from seed. As the need more light get like a 250 or 400w metal halide. Save up money!!! it will pay off athe end of good crop.

Alright I guess I'll start saving up then, I don't really have much money left at this point. And also jr22hockey I looked on the box of the lights I bought and still didn't see the K amount anywhere..
I'm trying to not fail completely, I know its not gonna perfect, but I'm sure I will learn and do it better next time with some better seeds. I'm seriously thinking about a different container for them.. The styrofoam is not cutting it. The only problem is that I have no tools... so I'll be looking into getting something that doesn't take too many tools.

You should really look into a tent made of pvc pipe, is like a $1.18 for 10 feet at home dopot and you can wrap it in plastic, like Panda film or or just some regular poly. you want some thing white for better reflectivity tho, Plus you can make it what ever size you want!!!:hump:

so Ive completely changed everything up. I burned one of my plants leaves and decided to go bigger. I got a 4 shelved indoor greenhouse type thing on sale at lowes so that was cool, only 45 bucks. I invested in a light, and now I have a 150 watt hanging above my plants. I put my old fans in there, and got some cheap fans to circulate air and I think this looks soooo much better. I think my plants are happy as well. The temp is staying at 80 F steadily... and I'm very happy with how this set up turned out. Ive also read up some more and decided to go 24/0 for about a month or so.. maybe less, I'm not sure yet. I'll post some picks of the set up in a sec.

could be 2 days to 2 weeks, jus depends on the conditions i believe.

keep the seedlings warm if you can, like if you have a little heatpad (used for sore limbs etc) you could place that under the box
depends on how they germninated I have one of those warmer matts and I have had many seeds sprout 32 hour like it warm in germinatin....If you dont have a matt use the old papper cup and papper towle method and place a cup on top of each then put on a heat vent in the house work very good

Well i would def wait a couple weeks on the nutes, Im using Gen Hydro Flora series, they say they are for hydro but the site says you can use them in soil too! They are workin fine so far for me. As for the soil.:wall: i started out with the cheep shit and they were doin nothing, i think it my have been my fault by not having enough light but im not sure, it could have been a combo of both! But when i build the new tent i grabbed some 3 gal nursery pot and the For Farm Ocean Forest!!! Its the shit!, Depending on how big you are wantin to go with your plants you may need bigger pots. if you have to transplant again use the fox farm, it works wonders! but be careful, ocean forest is too strong for seedlings, Next time im gonna start with light warrior and switch to ocean froest!:bigjoint:

sounds like a plan, im probably gonna do that when i re-pot my plants. :)
but i have a question.. ive noticed that one of my plants if growing a lot shorter than all the others.. it looks healthy but im wondering if its growth is stunted for some reason, or maybe since its just bagseeed.. could be a whole different strain? i tried moving it to a different spot.. to see if that would do anything. or does that just sometimes happen? anyway other than that they look great so far. do they look appropriately sized compared to their age?

just an update.. nothing too big has happened :)
the plants look great so far... im going to start LST soon.. but I think I'll re-pot them first into some bigger pots. hopefully ill have enough room for all 8 in there till i can figure out the sex of each plant. when i do re-pot im gonna use some nutes or maybe soil i get from the hydro store.. ill ask them whats better when i go there in a few days. i was thinking about getting a humidifier.. but ive seen those are pretty expensive..
heres some pictures of how things are going so far, before i start the LST in a few days.
