Commercial QB Setup

Being 'commercial' don't your lights need to be UL approved and waterproof?
If I want to be able to pay $1500/month for crop insurance it would be necessary. At our size/scale it's not worth it IMO. This build is 1100sf in a new market, basically a proof of concept to see if it's worth pursuing a large scale buildout. Also we are hoping to yield more than half our product outdoors in one crop per year.

What about insurance for your facilities, and inspections, certain states require lights be up to code for fire prevention. I don't think these lights fit those parameters.

As of now our law does not have specific facility or lighting requirements, of course that could change with new legislation in 2019..

In Colorado grows are inspected , most likely your state will adopt our legislation because all others have. I would invest in lights that will meet those requirements.

In commercial grows safety is the most important thing, one accident can cripple or destroy a company, i'd take every precaution possible including purchasing lights that are UL certified.

how's your Bar 8 grow going... harvest under it yet?
Good! Hey Pet, how u been bud? Yeah I harvested a few times under the prototype. The finished product is in the mail hopefully. That whole side of the room will be the x2 SolarBar-8's & the QB ELITE protype with the 90cri Nichias. That is unless @Stephenj37826 has new, finished version he'd like to shine on the situation to crush a 4'x4' cuz I happen to have a 4x4 with your name on it bro. Wouldnt even be opposed to adding the r/fr strips or whatever u want to display hlg new gear in a 4x4.
And I do apologize for not being able to produce an optimal grow with it to show. Since, I have figured out the problem & everything is beyond good now. You'll see with this next grow. I'll show u I can rock a QB. Lol!
PetFlora, stop by the thread. Shoukd get interesting this next run.

The Canna+ line just came out. Literally like last month. I believe there's been one order in this country. Anything on their site is whatever tests they've done. Gonna be some time before we see who is doing what with them.

https://www.cannabisbusinesstimes.com/article/valoya-introduces-valoya-canna-led-lights/

This seven figure order comes less than a month after the product launch, giving a good signal about the value the Valoya Canna+ line brings to the cannabis market. As the cannabis market is developing, so are growers’ needs for solutions enabling them to bring superior offerings to the market. Cannabis growers are looking for high yields with superior secondary metabolite and terpene compositions with fixtures that do not consume much energy and are reliable,” said Rabbe Ringbom, VP of sales and marketing at Valoya.

The order is realized through Innovative Growers Equipment (IGE), Valoya’s North American distributor for the cannabis market. IGE is the premier equipment supplier to commercial growers in North America. Their products include ebb and flow and expanded metal benches, Valoya’s LED grow lights, plant support systems, automated fertilizer injectors etc.
Spoke with them on the phone this week, excellent contact and customer service definitely. Got a suggested layout and pricing. A combination of their two cannabis lights, bars for veg, shoe boxes for flower. They remind me a lot of fluence but with a lot more scientific study of their products, patents, etc.

Do you mind me asking what the pricing/watt was?

It would be ballpark $60k to outfit my 1000sf operation.
Curious what the average PPFD is for a $60k/1,000 square foot setup. Or do they just want customers to depend on their patented spectra? Based on some of the comments about them, it sounds like they aren't pushing efficiency as a selling point?

They are suggesting 2 shoe box Canna+ units in each 4x4 area. At 392W each that's 784 watts per 4x4 with an average of 861.05 μmol/m2/s. These would be run 18" over the canopy.

Alternatively 4 Canna+ 120 light bars in each 4x4. At 139w each thats 556W per 4x4 with an average 807.65 μmol/m2/s. These are run just 4" over canopy.

In the veg room 4 139w light bar over each 8' section of shelving/rack. They're rated at 325.26μmol/s each, 403.46 μmol/m2/s average for each area.

So I'm now sitting here doing the math, it looks like I could actually get the setup for around $52k plus shipping.

im so glad, dude!

its a blessing in disguise.

got an idea of what youre going to do ?
I'm really not sure what to do, right where I started lol.... right now I'm testing different configurations with 288s and 96s. Will be posting some results soon.

so they wanted to flog ya 14,100w for 52k....forget about them and their make belief spectrum.

like, im in england and know nothing about legal commercial grows, stickers, tickets and certifications but i know i'd want strips and i'd build all of it! if you cant build it your best option imo is HLG or PLC.

Those qb96 are putting out good numbers...see @Or_Gro thread https://www.rollitup.org/t/qb96-elite-v2-w-sstx-heatsink-question.977654/page-24 hes got 4x4 mapped out with em, some great deets in there.

So this patented spectrum thing... To my layman's mind this reeks of bullshit. But do any of our veteran tech-heads have an opinion on it? I'm seeing that listed as a selling point on more and more fixtures. And there are more and more LED grow light companies popping up on the radar every damn day. Progrowtech, Scyence, FGI, etc. Invariably they post pics of commercial ops outfitted with their lights, but sometimes it just doesn't smell right? Like this FGI company - if their IG is to be believed, they're filling warehouses with their lights left and right, but look on their website and you'll find that they don't post the diodes used, they don't post proper test results (no PAR map that I can find), the stated PPF efficacy of their top-of-the-line fixture is "1.93 Umols/sec/w", and stated luminous flux efficacy is "130.9 Lm/w". Now what legit commercial facility is going to spend $1,500 on a light like that? And this frog dude wants us to believe that Valoya is any different? On what basis, FFS? Then again, maybe I'm just a victim of my own ignorance.
