Commercial fukn soil

As many of you know commercial soil is already loaded with bugs and especially gnat eggs. I love my roots organic but, man that always are loaded with gnat eggs. I dont want to use chemicals or pesticides on my plants. A friend of mine uses a .5 layer of sand and that seems to work ok. I tried that crushed recycled glass to no avail. This round I'm trying something new. I have been reading that some people used Bounce dryer linen and place them to cover the pots of the plants. Apparently there is a chemical is the sheets that repel the gnats. If the sheets do not touch the soil and I remove them before feeding , I an hoping they will have no impact on my plants. I'll report my findings on this as it goes. At least my room will smell fresh and clean? Lol.
Anyone heard or use this method?

Never heard of that method. tried the sand, didn't work and made it difficult to tell when the pots needed water.
Crushed mosquito dunk powder on top of your media, covered with 1/8 inch of soil is effective. Every time you water, the soil gets a bt blast, and the gnat larvae are soon history. This really does work.

I never heard of those Dunks but that does look like a good option after reading up on it, so thanks for that bit of good info. The dryer sheets do seem to repel the gnats but I dont think it will touch the larvae. I will have to give your method a try. Thanks
