colored neoprene collars invite pests

just got back from the local grow shop and was talking to the guy about the neoprene collars. needed some more colored collars as thats how i keep my clones seperated on my homemade cloner and the guy tell's me i should only use black(thats all he had at the time too) because certain colors invited certain pests. yellow would invite thrips and so on. forgot what colors and what bugs but you get the idea. so, any truth to this or was this his bs way of getting me to buy his overpriced ezcloner brand collars??

Never heard of it. but certain colors DO attract certain bugs.
That being said, I've been using colored collars for a few months now and no bugs at all. I use them for the same reason, to keep track of strains.

like a big open sign at your rootzone. although you'd have to get the bugs first and they find the rootzone pretty well themselves anyway.

makes things easier for me rather than having to use tags. i've not had any issues with bugs as of yet either and so long as i keep my rooms clean and sanitary i really shouldn't have any issues with bugs. i guess it does make sense if certain pests are attracted to certain colors that you MAY have some added risk for infestation. seemed like growshop propaganda at the time seeing as how all he carried were black overpriced collars though. i'll just continue to keep my rooms clean and quarantine any clones i may acquire from outside sources as i like my colored collars for convenience

not really concerned right now as it's currently in the teens here along the lake but was more concerned for the summer when my room temps are a little harder to keep under control

the colored ones suck for two reasons. they attract algae and they are more rigid than the black ones and split easily.

I like the new craft multi-colored duck tape. it's easily removable once used. my .02 /

I use a ezcloner. I have bought various shit collars online.
Budha is using a turbo cloner. After using and seeing the turbo cloner collars
they are worth the money.

The cheap ones are pieces of shit, that I have used.
Homeless visits and leaves various cool things when he does. One was a gold colored sharpie to right on the collars.
Fuckers been around the block a few times, that one.

the red collars i have will baely fit into the net pots and thats with a ton of force. black collars and a gold sharpie/paint pen.....not a bad idea at all. i've got a homemade cloner myself. couldn't bring myself to spend that kinda scratch on an ezcloner when i had everything minus the pump and spray heads around the house. and the pump and sprayers only set me back about $30

I just use a bubble cloner.
Just a small 2 outlet $12 ebay air pump, 2 flexible air stones, and a $2 sterlite bucket.
100% success rate. Roots ready to pot in 10 days. I grow 12/12 from seed, and I get roots from flowering clones in less than 3 weeks. It's tough to root a flowering clone!

You should tell the guy next time to order what you want ! Hydro Stores that do not cater and special order are doomed in this state .. 90 % of the owners and employees are worthless in the end .. Just about the same ratio found within the posts here I suppose ...

I snag twist ties from Shopping Market bulk sections , twist ties that can be written upon .. I use these to label cuts and keep plant counts and such .. Next time in the bulk foods , perhaps grab a few and try this old school method .. It goes back to the days when all we had for supplies was supermarkets and hardware stores .. Creativity was a required grow skill back then lmao ....
