Cold weather affects ballast

During this last bit of cold weather I learned that if the Lumatek electronic ballast gets too cold it WILL NOT fire off. I placed my ballast on a brick ,on a concrete floor in a unheated shop, and one day I could not get my lights to come on. I called Lumatek Tech support ( a joke) and they had no clue other than to send it back to the supply house that I bought it from. I called my local grow shop and they had no better idea, b ut to buy a second ballast and send the old one back for serviceing , which I DID NOT want to have to do, hell the ballast was not even a month old, and Lumatek Electronics are supposed to be one of the best out there. So on a hunch I put the ballast on the heat mat for about a half hour and it started right up.... TOO COLD !
So keep your ballasts warm , not HOT , just warm.

technology is not always the answer ;p.. besides, ill stick with somethin that sounds badass like "powerhouse"

but ya, thats shitty.. ill keep that in mind if any of my friends decide to sway the electronic way

Hi All.
Hiya M8.
WOOOOOWWWEEEE, I bet you had a good few days didn't you???? I hope you already had a decent stash, to keep you chilled. I would have gone up in a blue light!!!!!!
That is disgusting customer service, at every turn, they must think all weed heads are fuckin clowns with more money than sense.
I personally would never pay Lumateks inflated prices, (in my opinion), but to be then faced with that level of customer DIS Service is trully shockin, "Go buy another while we fuck about with your faulty unit"?????????? I would never ever darken there doorstep again, and I would be after giving back the Lumatek for a full refund, and buy something else, from elsewhere.
Its only us putting up with this crap level of service that makes them think they can keep getting away with it.
Go buy Chinese or Korean they look after customers, things break down less often, and they usually deliver shit faster than from 120 miles down the road, in my experience anyway.
Its really not just me is it???? but ar'nt we crap in the UK????
The Lumateks are not fan cooled are they???? Looks like you'll have to put them somewhere look warm, and then direct a fan on them, or fit a switcher to switch ballast between two lamps to keep it at working temp.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
At that price they should have somebody other than the tea lady on the service desk too.
