I love your location. Awesome show, although the 3rd season didn't start off too well.
I'm colourblind, but I know for sure that my pills never dramatically changed shade. Also, I always boiled it FIRST, to take away all the caffeine and some of the ASA, THEN in the oven. Still, I don't see any particular reason your pills should be bad. The brown stuff would probably just be inactive ASA, as it can't survive that temperature. However, the codeine can, so, enjoy!

PS- Now that I recall, my friends have followed my directions and described the liquid stage as an off-white with a slight pinkish tone.
