coconut shavings as soil??

im soon going to be starting my first grow. yesterday i was with some pals and someone told me you can use coconut shavings as soil? is this true? can you also you them when first sprouting? plz and thank youu

alright thanks, i assume i can just get it at home depot or something? and would this be a good thing for me to be using?

You can't get Canna stuff anywhere but a grow shop that carries it...or the internet. I use Cocodan Croutons to cut Canna's BioTerra with. It's a totally different coconut "soil" I'm using in place of perlite (I mix my own soil using Canna's BioTerra Plus). I haven't tried Canna's Coco yet but I am curious...
