Coco flush ' that was easier than I expected?

Hello guys & girls,

I'm about 9days in to 12/12 and I have 3 plants in my 2x2 wich I love to death , it has served me well these past x amount of grows? 5 I think?
Anyway! It has payed me back 10 fold nnd I couldnt be happier.

I'm growing in coco/perlite for the first time ' and was a little wurried going from a simple 1 part feeding nutrient like IONIC by GROWTH TECHNOLOGY , for those that don't know the company "it's the same one that makes the GREEN FUSE line of supliments & CLONEX.

This time around I thought why not step it up a little and try a hydroponic media with hydroponic nutes? So! I did ' and purchased the following .........................
ml/l
canna coco pro+...50%
Perlite...50%
Gh 3 part nutrients (HW)..123/111/321
Green fuse grow .............. 1ml/l
Shogun dragon force........( end of bloom) 4ml/l
Liquid seaweed tonic....... 2.5/5ml/l
Epsom...............................1/4-1/2 tsp/5l
Magnecal+........................1ml/l
Silicon................................1ml/l
Gh Bio bloom....................1ml/l
Formulex ..........................5ml/l
Ripen.................................15ml/l
Flora clean........................ 5ml/l
I'm growing in 11 litre pots from (SEED)
Never use clones because I haven't got the space for a mother plant' and I don't trust anyone else to buy them from lol.

I'm a " over watering grower! so changing to a media that is hard to over water was a no brainer? I water the girls every day with 1.5/2.0 litres with nutrients at every watering

I noticed a massive improvement in growth 'probably 30% faster?
I usually veg from seed for 6/7wk's in soil to reach the size of plant I need' usually 1.5ft by 1.5ft 'but with the coco/perlite it's only taken 30days to achieve the same results?

I had some calcium &magnesium deficiencies followed by a nitrogen deficiency around the 4th week due to not using anything to supliment the coco with because I was told by several growers that between my tap water being 220/[email protected] and the amounts if ca/mg in the nutrients , i wouldn't need too? Well they were wrong wrong wrong! I even posted a copy of my water report and still" the advice given was "you will be ok"
No biggies really 'I just mixed up a batch of feed with 3ml magnecal+ & a pinch of Epsom and problem solved.....until...... transition to flower I forgot to pre dose the nutrient mix with cal&mag/ Epsom and started seeing the issues again.

Not a good time to get a deficiency to be honest' plants are putting all there energy into getting nice and "plump ready for flowerING and the last thing you want is stunted growth.

With the deficiency built up the media the ph started to drop from 6.0 to 5.2 from a build up of salts. When it's happens in soil I have to flush 3x the amount of water through the media to sort the problem and that can take a few hours in soil?

With the coco I got prepared to do the same, 11 litre pots x 3 = 33 litre of media = 99litres of ph flushing water?

This time I only used 20 litres of ph water to reach the same outcome , of a increased ph & stable media once again!
It is so simple growing in coco, I love it and doubt I will change to anything else anytime soon ' if I do it will be a wilma 4pot filled with hydroton for the WIN!!!

That just about wraps things up, not really a mind blowing/enlightening post but a post all the same lol

Conclusions:
Coco over soil any day! MJ Plants are the same as us , the more we eat the bigger we get (FACT)
You will need to supliment with a cal&mag product in coco using tapewater at some point so make sure you have some on the shelves.

it's better to have it and not need it 'than to need it and not have it!

White widow in the back & sour d in the front..... enjoy....20170412_184448.jpg 20170412_152253.jpg 20170413_193558.jpg 20170410_041522.jpg

Excellent write-up about your experiences, thanks for posting it. I'm a coco/perlite hempy grower. My tapwater is 120ppm and I've not needed any calcium or magnesium (I anticipated that I would because of what id read, but nope). I only mix 3 things into my tapwater from veg to chop:
1. 6ml gh floa micro
2. 9ml gh flra bloom
3. 3ml ph down

Mx 'em up in a gallon of water, shake, pour. No deficiencies thus far (wk 2 flower), knock on wood. My feeding ppm is rock steady at 840 every time ive checked it.

Could my feeding routine be tweaked, or should I just stick my KISS method?

If it's working for you ' I wouldn't change anything?

"Most growers" from what I can tell have problems with coco and cal&mag deficiency due to the retaining quality's of the coco, coco hold on to magnesium more than any other media so' most find suplimenting with a cal&mag or Epsom salt avoids this problem?

It's all dependent on the needs if your strain to be honest,
You might not need it today but if I was you' I would purchase some just incase?
