Cob swap out is it possible?

Those that arent scattered do. Where are you going with this?
I was pointing out that the light from a board travels as far as the light from a cob. Most people here accept that light from multiple sources and angles penetrates a canopy farther than light from a single point source. Some people assert that light from a cob penetrates farther, but I have yet to see a logical explanation of the physics.

Neither have i. Just seems that from a common sense standpoint that a stronger light source has more light that goes somewhere. It doesnt just disappear due to an errant leaf.
Im not against qb's, just feel both qb's and cobs have different benefits.. Efficiency isnt worth arguing because the differences are so minimal.

Yeah common sense is not the same a science. How much penetration gain do you really think your getting an inch or 2? You might be right and the majority of the world is wrong but I don't think that's the case

So your view is that 300W of lighting is no different than 600W?

With quality LED it's all about watts per sq ft. Think of the commercial grows with HPS lights hung way up high so they hit plants from all angles. Same principal but the wattage per sqft has to be there.

What? Can you quote that not sure where I said anything like that

It was assumed that the light was the same wattage either way with the only difference being 6 cobs vs 3qb idk where you made up the different wattage thing. The op went for less watts with cobs vs more watts with qb and claims a gain in penetration

That I can see, my response was based on boatguy's statement, which you quoted.

Yeah I guess I can see how you may have interpreted his post but I thought he was more refering to the fact that with cobs you have the same amount of light coming from a smaller space. That doesn't change how much wattage you need per square foot

Shah, you want to change CCts. Well the tasty uses Vero29's I think. The 72v versions. What driver is it using?
I do believe it's cxb3590's 36v I dont know the spectrum tho. It can't be the Vero's they run approx 100w to the cree 50w I would only have 3 cobs if Vero vs the 6 cob cree.

What cobs are in the light now (pull one and read the back) and how are the wired up (parallel or series)? What drivers? You are using chip holders and not glue right?
Im actually talking to the original builder of the light. He is on this forum. I'm gonna send him some pics an he's gonna give me the complete tour of the light (so to speak) I do know that they are cxb3590's just dont know the spectrum.
