Theres gotta be some difference cause everywhere i seen the recipe it specifacly says to use active. Good luck

yeah... dry yeast needs to be "awakened" and whatnot before cooking with...

i just think the active stuff is more efficient like i said...

the dry yeast turn out the co2 too fast something in two days but active yeast generate co2 for week.you just need shake the bottle with that yeast once a day. i use active yeast and its good thing.

Fill the container only 7/10 full and don't shake it up and down furiously, but more of a gentle swirling fashion. You don't want to let the liquid inside hit the hose coming out of the top. Shake/swirl it once a day to stimulate the Co2 process given off by the yeast:)

if you have anything that constantly vibrates(like a fan or pump)place the container near there so it gets constantly agetated an produces small amounts of co2 all the time...not just when you swirl it...

So you but some yeast in a bottle with some water? and make a hole in the lid? to producee Co2?
Have I got that right? and why is it good for the plants?

Obviously very new to all this. Thanks.

Wow, this is quite a long thread, all about co2 too, how cool.
As I read this thread, I assume you've pretty much conquered all the other aspects of your grow room?

Because co2 should be about the last thing you look at. I also assume that you are using HID lighting and not cfl's?

Adding supplemental CO2 will benefit the plants only if they are CO2-limited. Which means that, at ambient CO2 levels, the canopy is light-saturated. This is pretty difficult to achieve with CFLs.

Once you've gotten everything else dialed in, and you want additional co2, you wouldnt bother with these home made brews, it's a waste of time and energy.

well on this subject im going to have dis-agree with videoman....plants need co2 to grow an be healthy.....co2 should be one of the first things in consideration when growing....if you raise the co2 levels by 20% you get 20% faster stronger growth...this is just my opinion...an for small grows the xtra co2 with the bottle helps....

I've yet to hear from someone/anyone growing with CFL's to claim a 20% increase in growth when utilizing homemade co2, or any kind of co2 for that matter.

It would be kind of hard to get the level of light needed, to have co2 be beneficial using CFL's. If your using CFL's and want to add co2 that will actually be helpful to you, design a decent ventilation system.
