co2 worth it?

So im looking ahead to my next grow, tryna make some serious upgrades...im wondering if co2 will be beneficial if i alrdy have outside air coming in at 150 CFMs? will it make tht big of a difference? shits expensive lol rooms only gunna be 8x8 ft
 
Most opinions I've read don't think Co2 is worth the investment. I like howwith Co2 I can work with much higher flower room temps, which allows me to run my grow with no air conditioner. I've never run my grows without Co2 so I don't know how much yeild difference there is, but saving money on AC and the hassle of AC is worth it alone to me.

Don't get me wrong though, Co2 presents it's own set of problems to deal wth. Good luck man!

Co2 is easy work with as long as you make a full investment like AC ( mini split or central ), Co2 monitor & a sealed room.. My set up was literally plug and play. I bought my controller and regulator and just hooked it up and plugged it in and set it for 1500 PPMs, yes it was that easy.
 
ya i wanna upgrade but only spend $1000 bucks..and i wanna buy 2 1000w lights...so idk if in my budget i alrdy have a 10lb tank i had for filling paintball gun tanks..my room is sealed just have to seal the door which im sure i can do for free..and as far as controling the fans? i wudnt have them running with my lights like i do now?

You can seal the door with weather stripping where are you pulling the air to cool the lights? You using air from the grow room itself to vent the hoods??? You would need to pull cool air from another room. I pretty much have the same set up you want. I use a spare bedroom I converted into my grow room and I use two 1000W HPS and co2, I really dont notice faster finishing times or increased yields but I do notice my buds get super frosty with co2. I dont exhaust because the spare bedroom has central AC, the plants munch on the co2 and make fresh oxygen and my scrubber running 24/7 scrubs whatever stale air is present.
 
well in my new grow room i plan on using a 8in inline to suck the air outta both the hoods and in the attic..and just have fresh air from outside coming in the room itself. ill prob need to get more intake air or cooler air cause its summer and cud be upper 90s outside. this grow wont be until like august so only a month or so of 90 degree weather.

I use a 8'' 675 CFM max fan to cool my two 1000W HPS works great, sounds like you know what you need/want.. Good luck my dude.

I would buy light well before i even thought of adding c02, you'll get way more production for your dollar. I bought a c02 ppm meter once, i was shocked to see my ambient c02 level in my grow room was 750ppm without me adding a thing.

What you're describing will create a negative vacuum in your grow space, which is exactly what you want IMO, except i would suck air through a Can carbon filter first, then route it to the attic. I use to just blow the air into the attic too, and i'm on the 2nd floor of my apartment, so basically it was going 3 stories high, i figured no one would smell it, till one day i saw a security guard for my complex outside sniffing and looking around to try and determine where it was coming from. I'm legal but still no one needs to know ya know. If you're upgrading, light and real carbon filter from Can are IMO the best investments you can make.
 
thanks man. im def gunna get the 2 1000watts before anything i actually alrdy ordered yield master II hoods and sunblaster bulbs..i just need a ballast and thts where the $$ is at!...appreciate all the help so far im left with $400 for other things such as co2 and a filter...i actually forgot to even add tht into my budget...me and my girl cud careless cause its a full house but i am not legal soooo ya know stealthy is a must. :weed:
 
If not legal,... hell i am, and i still think you gotta get a Can33 or something with a minimum flow rating on it, so you know to even under flow that. At least thats how i do it. It works out to $8 a month for guaranteed odor control, you can't beat it. Oh also if this is in a room with a home HVAC vent, make sure to seal it off, or when it blows air into the grow room it will most likely overpower your exhaust fan, and during that time, no more negative vacuum, and smell being pushed out every crack. I sealed mine off at first, but then decided to reroute it, to also blow into my attic,.. after going THROUGH the back half of the 7000BTU AC unit i have in the room, the back half is where the compressor and hot components are, so now the fucker runs efficient as hell. I cool my 12x12 grow room with high ceilings for $30mo in the heat of the south west deserts

Hey Einstien, ambient is 350 and plants use co2. Did you ever consider your meter was off. I only mention this after the "Schooling" you gave me about physics, the fact that co2 is heavier than air etc.... Co2 meters are very fragile and will drift even when not used. Auto background calibration isn't advised in a growroom. Growers who pay attention to details and use Co2 properly will keep their instuments calibrated with nitrogen gas or a custom blend of nitorgen and Co2 that is 350 ppm.

So everything you know about sealed rooms and you don't have a co2 meter or know how to use it. Interesting. Doesn't sound like you know the definition of a sealed room. To bad you don't mention that in your sermons about how to do it.
 
i agree that you should invest in quality ballasts for now and then get your room dialed in for a grow or two. after that you can invest the $250+ for a Co2 controller/monitor. ambient Co2 levels range anywhere from 300-600ppm. just depends on where you are. adding Co2 to a room should really only be done after everything else has been dialed in. if not, then your plants can't really use it anyway. they have to be very healthy to take advantage of the added Co2 in the environment.

I agree, this guy just grinds my gears after some nice dialog in another thread, I though he might benefit from a taste of his own brand of medicine. But BS is BS you're right there.
 
i grew the same strain indoor and out.
the indoors had c02 with it starting at 2 weeks in fruiting.
the indoor bud were much more dense. couldnt really tell the diff until i broke up the weed. the c02 def made a diff and ill be using it from here on out. plus mt indoor room in sealed so i need c02 aha
 
I think what DIYer is saying is that if you don't go sealed you don't need to worry as much about CO2. Worldwide ambient air is now just over 400ppm so it would be easy to check your meter to make sure it is reasonably calibrated. Indoors CO2 ppm rises very quickly just from breathing which would explain his reading of 750.
