CO2 Question

Every time my lights turn off my CO2 drops to 300 and every time my lights turn on CO2 rises to 2100.. Is this how it should be or am I doing something wrong? I'm using Atlas and the setting is on F13.

Day time co2 is too high max should be 1500; I keep it between 900-1200; night time plants don't uptake co2

Not sure why, but right now at night my CO2 in the room is 2300, during the day when they're aware it's at 1000 - 1100.

Are you venting out your room to outside after the lights shut down? If not your plants will suffer from co2 poisoning.

No, but I've turned the CO2 tank off, because during the day it sustains at 600, at nights it jumps to 1300.

May I ask what you're trying to accomplish?

Healthier plants or weight? Because if it's weight. The cost of the gas adds to the final product investment/price.

So I'm wondering why the CO2?

It's normal for your co2 to spike at lights off. I see it as a sign that your plants are super healthy. My rooms at lights off get up to 4000ppm of co2 naturally. My burners don't even kick on until a few hours into lights on.

Don't worry about your lights off co2 ppm. Be concerned with your lights on co2. If your not pushing every environmental factor to the max theres no need to max out your co2 to 1500. I don't see a reason for most people to go past 12-1300.

whats the mecanism for this co2 spiking? i think op is refering to problems with his co2 controler. Why would it indicate that your plants are super healthy?

Well, after some more research i've had my regulator, controller, and co2 unplugged since I posted this. It seemed fined, but at times like right now while my plants are asleep I'm seeing 2300 ppm.

You realize when the lights go off they are unable to use that co2. You should be venting your space off at night to ambient levels. If not you can suffer from co2 poisoning.

I don't think I can get co2 poisoning at 4000ppm at lights off, unless you work in the room for extended time. I don't work in my room at lights off anyways. I'm also not burning co2 at lights off, the ppm levels get to that level on their own when lights go out. The plants use up the oxygen and expel co2. In my research the high co2 levels at lights out are a sign the plants are super healthy. I do exhaust my room at lights out but its mostly to maintain my humidity levels. I have an exhaust hooked up to a humidistat so when lights go out and theres a spike, its vents the room so the dehumidifier doesn't have to work to hard.

What your describing, 02 in CO2 out, is a process that normally happens at night, when the plant is not photosynthesizing. If you were saying that high CO2 at lights on Id understand your reasoning but high CO2 at lights off would only indicate low photosynthesis during lights on.

I mean your plants can suffer from co2 poisoning over time. Plants can’t use it at night thus the room needs to be vented off. unless you have constant fresh air coming in.
