CMH Throwdown.

1st off i suck at writing! bongsmilie:bigjoint:

I decided it is time for a different thread as the last would not represent my room anymore. I have made the CHM/LEC plunge full on, replace all the HPS/MH with comparable fixture as what i had before.
This will be the beginning of my try at perpetual grow. the plants in flower room now will be flipped on friday or saturday, feel like i might have to top about a foot off of some of them as they are all rdy at 36" from lamps, and the fixture is all rdy at the ceiling.

The flower room has been in veg for around 8 weeks, It is a "pot" luck of strains, took 17 freebies and threw them in a cup together.:bigjoint:<can tell why some of these were free> got about 9 of them left, lost a few and ditched a few, they will be running next to my HSO Blue Dream mother and about 10 of her offspring.

Nutes: full line of "Nectar of the gods"

flower room:
12 x 7 <plastic wall not up yet>
3 x Nanolux 630 watt fixtures ( 2 x 4k Lamps, 4 x 3k lamps)
1 x Titian 6 light controller <all lights run on this>
2 x 16" Hurricane wall mount fans<only 1 hung right now>
1 x 12k dual pipe portable A/C

Veg tent:
1 x Sunplix 315w ballast
1 x sun system "Irradiator" hood
1x Phillips 315w Moguled Lamp < Thanks to @ttystikk i was able to save an adaptor, woulda never known about them>

Nothing in the Veg tent yet but plan on running
5 x incredible bulk
5 x Kripple shock
all feminized.

few pics of the progress.

I made a boo boo with my 315W CMH lights.

You see, I replaced two 600W HPS with a pair of 315W CMH lights. They do fine. They replaced the old light with little if any loss of growth. The problem is that they weren't getting adequate light in the first place, so they aren't getting adequate light now. I'll add a third lamp and that should solve the problem. I'm still way under the old wattage.

Similarly, I replaced two 860W CDM Allstart lamps with four 315W CMH lights and the plants get about the same light. Again, not enough. .. because the plants burn as soon as I fire up the COB LED. I'm going to add a couple more and see if that solves the problem.

This time I'm not saving a lot of power, 1100W for the 860W CDM on a magnetic ballast vs a shade over 1000W for three 315W CMH lights (don't forget the ballasts use electricity too!), but I'll be getting half again as much light on the ladies.

Ofttimes, the right trade isn't in favor of saving a bit on the electric bill, but rather getting more PAR on the plants!

Well hope my girls are ok, watered them on Saturday night, the had to make a emergency flight out to Phoenix on Sunday to take care of my mother who is @ cancer treatment centers of America, won't return till Friday night hope they didn't drink themselves to were they are dead when I return. If they die it is a small price to pay, but it s what it is.

I only ran my HPS in a 5×5 once, always felt like it was jus barely getting light out to the edges. So the 630w fixtures 4×4 doesn't bother me for the idea of losing the 5×5 ppl say hps gives.
Running the 3 × 630w fixtures comes out to about 2100w, which saves me 1.2k off the bat, and everything I have read and personally seen from them tells me I will be getting better light for a cheaper cost per month.

In a surprise twist to my above narrative, I'm going to be kit bashing a brand new revolution micro thousand watt fixture and using it to run an 860W CDM Allstart lamp. I'll even crank it up to 1150W!

If it holds up, it should produce a massive amount of light for my babies, and that should help keep them from getting fried when they get hit with the LED.

Ya wanna talk CMH throwdown? This combo is like bringing a howitzer to the shooting gallery!

You are right. But sometimes the opposite is true. Last month I said "to hell with it" and turned all my lights up full... the extra electric needed to cool it all ended up costing me more than $100 extra on my electric bill which is nearly 200% increase lol. Unfortunately I cannot afford to do that. It is not always just the extra cost of the PAR Watts that matter.

If everyone would just understand this half the bickering on here would stop lol. Amen!
It is the people that don't get the fact we all grow in different circumstances that seem to cause all the arguments around here. Horses for courses guys ;)

or better yet use eagle20 on your baby clones. totally safe when used responsibly and youre harvesting a plant with 100X more leaf mass 90+ days away

It doesn't matter when you use shit like that..........it's systemic, it stays in the plant, which is why you get continued protection.

"systemic" does not mean "forever".

ill wager large amounts of money that dipping a 3" clone at the proper 2ml/gal concentration is undetectable in the flowers of a 2-3' plant 90 days later. besides, i only ever have to use it once with new clones because my room = clean, other peoples clones = filthy

im also aware that people commonly use this in or near flowering, which is why i refuse to smoke any one elses product other than my own.

in an active garden, myclobutanil has a 10-day half life

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0308814602005563

so take your 2ml/gal solution (call it 2g/gal). youre using *at most* 5 ml to dip a small clone = 0.003g eagle 20 = .0006g myclobutanil = 600 ug
in 10 days that is 300 ug
in 20 days that is 150 ug
in 30 days that is 75 ug
in 40 days that is 37.5 ug
in 50 days that is 18.75 ug
in 60 days that is 9.4 ug
in 70 days that is 4.7 ug
in 80 days that is 2.4 ug
in 90 days that is 1.2 ug at most spread out over an entire plant, half of which is harvestable material. less than a microgram over 100 or more grams of a plant material, at most. below the detection limit of any analytical procedure.

and every subsequent clone will have zero.

but go ahead and smoke mold and greencure if youre more into that (i do use green cure in veg but not on flowers). its nasty stuff but its a permanent fix if you can keep a room clean

It was already going into the 3rd week of flowering didn't want to spray it with anything and risked it coming back later. It was also the lanky ugly plant so I'm not too ,room for the rest.
Not interested in becoming a statistic somebody that flower and ended up with a white plant. Considering it was a pot luck strain/ no name freebie.
All the others are doing well, need to try and spread them out a bit, I'm running into leaves sitting on each other with light wetness. Got the dehuey on 50%, temp ranging from 70 at night and 82-85 When lights are on, added a small oscillating fan to hit them all in the middle of the plants in hopes it will stop the wetness from building up anymore.
