Sweet! Hope it works out well for you medicine.

~~Hans Solo~~ Day 39

Both plants are done growing vertically, finishing around 15-16" in height. Technically I could have gotten a few more inches in height out of the girls after I re-designed the way I have my panel hanging from my roof: I completely removed the hanging eye-bolt, just cut a hole in my roof and fed the pulley down into the box and then attached a bolt to the bottom. Now the only thing really interfering with getting maximum height out of my plants is the carbon filter that I used - I might change the design to be a low profile square instead of a long cylinder. My temps inside the box had been gradually getting lower due to me having to run my exhaust fan more to combat the higher humidity produced from the plants getting bigger/drinking more often. So in order to increase the temperatures inside the box to more optimal levels I decided to add 2x23w-2700k CFL's. This has brought the temperatures back up to 25/26 celcius during lights on WITH the exhaust fan going....damn LED's were running too cool. Today marks day 21 of flower.

~~Hans Solo~~ Day 43

Quick update today, plants are still going strong and will just be approaching week 4 of flower on Thursday. The plants are getting a lot thirstier and are giving off a very pungent odor. On a side note, I've started working on a pre-veg stealth box. The plan was to pick up some cheap speakers of kijiji and then gut one of them to setup as a small veg box. So far the speaker has been gutted, and I've drilled a hole for the CFL outlet and mounted it inside with 2x23w 6500k CFL's. I am waiting for the exhaust fan to come in, which should be pretty awesome once I get it all installed :) It's going to have a LED thermo-controlled 100mm fan, set it and forget it. I tried running the CFL's overnight to see temps and they were up around 32c, a little too warm for my liking. The good benefit of having this speaker going is the top of the speaker gets really warm and will be a great place to germinate.

Are we there yet?

I have to ask why you are growing in those small boxes instead of utilizing the height of the room? If you are going for stealth, there are other ways to seal the grow. For example in this pic, you could tape a plastic sheet from the ceiling and have all the light contained and a lot more height.

Just a suggestion. I grew in a cardboard box once and one thing I learned was the importance of SPACE! It was a pain in the ass because the plants kept getting too close to the lights (CFL's) and I constantly had to train them down. Inevitably you are going to want to move to a bigger grow area.

It wouldn't be very stealthy to anyone opening my closet if I just had some panda film hanging from my clothes rack. I have it low enough so my clothes can still slide across and hang over top of the box, and when it's all "in place" and setup you can hardly tell there's anything in there just by glancing at it.

I forgot to update yesterday, so I will update in a few days.

Not when you describe it like that it wouldn't. But there are ways to do it that work. Maybe at least try to get a taller box. Not to down your grow or anything, I just know yield is limited by space. If someone were to open your closet now, they wouldn't hear the fan running or notice any smell whatsoever?

The fan isn't running when I'm not home, and there isn't any smell coming off that is any stronger than the kush I keep/vaporize in my room. ;)

I always advocate more height when possible. This is more of an experiment than anything else.

Thanks Wifey,

I think I will have 2 seedlings going into the speaker box shortly. One super haze and one quazar!

I just started another 12 bag seeds.

My nice order is stuck. I think it got taken by customs, but I'm trying to start a perpetual, so I need to keep it moving.

Here's a couple more pics of the speaker box, which is about 90% completed. I still need to find a way to cover the front with a panel of some sort using plywood or some type of really thin wood. I will also paint the interior white or layer it with mylar at some point.

I purchased this kit from coolerguys: http://www.coolerguys.com/840556100645.html

It's a USB powered PC fan that comes with a LED temperature gauge/readout. It comes with a thermal sensor that you place inside your cabinet, and then you program a start/stop temperature via the LED - in this case I have it set to turn off at 24c and turn on at 28c. The fan is pretty quiet, overall quite impressed with how easy it was to install/setup and it works awesome.

~~Hans Solo~~ Day 52

It's been 9 days since the last update, and a lot of progress has been made :) Buds are fattening up, getting really frosty, and pistils are slowly turning red! Under optimal conditions they claim this strain can be harvested in 49 days of flower.

And then onto the second phase of my project....which you've seen some previews of above. I bought a pair of older speakers off of kijiji with the intention of gutting one of them out to create a stealth speaker veg box. Needless to say, I got pretty lucky with the sizing and fit of everything considering I didn't really plan it out much beforehand. In a perfect world the fan would be at the very top of the speaker, but in order to be able to fit & mount the fixture for the CFL's I had to sacrifice a little bit - the fan had to be placed pretty much in the middle of the back of the box. The plants are still enjoying optimal temperatures down in the lower portion of the speaker where they will be growing, and the automated fan does a great job and maintaining temperatures....and I don't have to do anything except check up on them/water them every day or two. :hump:

~~Hans Solo~~ Day 56 - King's Kush Clones

About half way through week 6 of flower - I will be starting to flush in a week or so. Some of the leaves are starting to turn a little purple! :)

And the new girls....one fem quazar, and one non-fem haze extreme. Right now they are just chillin' in the speaker box, going through some bonsai techniques! It's strange though...I chopped the main stem right at the leaf node on both of them, assuming it would split off into two main stems like my topped one above. But no! They are growing 2 new tops below, and 2 new main tops, as well as continuing to grow the original main stem that was karate chopped! My original plan was to mainline these bitches like so: https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/542308-main-lining-thread.html

Now I am just going to keep topping them to maintain their height at about 6" and watch these mutant monsters develop.

Thanks Deus!

Still learning the pruning techniques as I go, it's kind of fun to torture them and watch them respond in mysterious ways :p
