Closet LED grow - is more light needed?

Just finished setting up my stealth closet LED hydro grow and wanted to make sure that I have a enough light coverage/intensity to maximize my yield (based on my growing room size and stealth constraints [I need to use only LED]).

I'm growing out of a GH Waterfarm and my [only] light right now is the Advanced Platinum Series P300. The product info says that it has a coverage of "4.5ft x 3.8ft at 18" height" - and so i'm going to [have to] assume thats [at least close to] accurate [but most likely not optimal at the further ends of the light].

Assuming I have my light hung at its maximum point (with 18" of space left until the top of the proposed canopy) I have 37" of vertical grow room (measured using the top of the Waterfarm as my starting point [not the floor]) and a horizontal area of 21" deep by 46" long [for scrog canopy].

Would you recommend getting [cheaper and smaller] supplemental LED panels to add at the very end of the canopy lengths (where the P300 reach would be at its furthest) or will this be more than enough intensity to keep the whole canopy happy?

I know Advanced LED's are expensive (and people have varied opinions on them) but i'm happy I made that my main lighting source, as for supplemental LED's i'm more than willing to branch out into other brands that cost much less.

Thanks in advance! (sorry for the terrible pictures but with the shape of the closet it's like impossible to get a good shot of how things look - hopefully you can piece together what it all looks like)

In my opinion you need alot more light how much would you like to grow? That light draws like 150w right? You will get 100-150 grams If you have a really good well trained grow

Stick a few quantum boards in there

The light is advertised as a "300w 12-band LED Grow Light [that] replaces a conventional 400w HPS grow light" - just going off the manufacturer info. I'd like to grow as much as the space would allow - to maximize my yield and make the most of my [large] initial investment (ventilation/lighting/gear etc). If putting 200 more dollars into this setuo will make a huge difference in yield then in my eyes its worth it. Thanks for the feedback!

Ya the 300 is just marketing i looked it up it draws 180w of not very efficient led if you can sell it replace it with 4 quantum boards at 90w each or if you want to keep it add 2 quantum boards to bump up yeild. The p300 will grow really nice frosty buds it just doesn't come close to the yield of the newer tech

Awesome info, thanks. Obviously you can't give exact yield numbers, but adding two of the 90w panels would effectively double the total lighting output [in watts] - i'm assuming this would roughly mean doubling the possible yield as well? If that's the case then it's most definitely a worthwhile investment.

It would double your watts and more than double yeild. the quantum boards are much more efficient so they produce more light per watt. More light per watt means more bud per watt

As someone new to LED this kit is a little intimidating - there's only one picture here, very little info, etc. I've been trying to google up some info about the quantum boards - for alternative buying links, research info I can read, youtube videos of other people's setups, etc - and im not finding very much (i'm probably not looking in the right spots).

Are there non-DIY-seeming solutions you would recommend as well? or is this the best way to [boldly] go, venturing for purchases outside the comfortable realm of Amazon lol.

http://www.tastyled.com

This is 241w of light for the entire closet, 3 weeks and 5 days in flower.

Nextlight would be similar but a generation old the quantum boards are brand new so all info will be on this site it's really easy to put together and will save alot of money. Suncloak would also be a good option. The tasty that are shown above or any other cob are awesome

Alrighty, I think i'll take the plunge and get two of the quantums when theyre back in stock.

One last question - my platinum LED has switches for veg/bloom (where you leave only veg on at first, then switch both lights on for flowering) - does the quantum have similar functionality or should I just leave the quantums on full for full cycle? If yes, should i even bother only using the veg switch on the platinum LED or should i just have it at full capacity during full grow cycle as well?

Thanks so much for all the info ryante, its been crazy helpful.

No switches on the quantum its a fuller spectrum light for the p300 I would leave both on all time but some may disagree with that
