I thought it was time for a productive thread over here... Lets here some cloning tips and advice.

I dunk my cuttings in mineral water proir to making the 45 degree cut.

Anyone have a good soil mix they use for clones?

I build my own aero cloners and use cycle timers for the best results. 1 minute on 5 minutes off. I used 5.8 phed tap water with a small amt of sensizym. Have heard people adding superthrive to the mix too but have never tried it. I keep an aquarium heater in the tub to keep the water at 80.

Nice, I have been wanting to build one myself. Did you make yours out of a Rubber Made tote?

I use both an ezcloner and rappid rooters. I like the cloner for larger cuttings and the rooters for the others.

I think the only thing I may do different then most is to "water only" for about a week before I take the cuttings so the plant is hungry.
I've found that a hungry cutting roots a lot faster then cuttings from plants that have been fed close to clone time.
I mist with water only and never use any additives, once again keeping the plant in the root for food mode.

Most definitely.

When I added up the cost of parts and pieces I used to make my own and the time I had to spend dicking with it and solving stupid problems the cloner won hands down. I believe I paid less then $250 for a 60 port delivered.

Something else I try and do is to make my 45 cut at a node or knot since it's a natural point of growth.
I also skin the cutting down at least one side removing the top layer of fiber before I dunk them in my rooting gel.
And if you can tell from the pic above, I tend to focus on thicker branches and leave the little shit for next time.

Pretty much exactly how I do it.

Anyone ever try wraping the growth shoot in black tape were you would make the cut proir to cutting? I read somewhere to try this with hard to clone strains.

I used toughboxes, you can get them at any lowes or home depot. Stronger than a rubbermaid tote and even has the lid all laid out so you can drill your holes without having to measure. Final cost to make is like 50 bucks minus a timer if you wanna use one. I love em.
