Cloning light

How about this, I do 8 to 12 clones at a time
Ya that will work great. Just keep it high. Then once they start growing new shoots get the light closer. I keep my T5's about 2" away from the canopy if I veg with them. You could also get the 4 bulb. That would be a little better if you want to use it for some vegging too.

Here's how close I had them in my veg tent when I was using them.

And @SwiSHa85, your name isn't Matt by any chance is it?

Sweet thank you, I wont be vegging with em just till clones root then I re pot and will switch to 600 hps, wanted to reinvest in my cloning next + a silencer for my fan, next I plan to reinvest from hps to L.E.D.

What about this instead of a heat mat?

No sir. Just a good ol' Texas boy who jumped to CO before rec. After divorce in 2010 I just wanted to be happy and Colorado was the closest and cheapest option at the time to grow legally. I own property in both Tx and Co now.

Nice veg spot btw. I use a 64 site Clone King @ about 40 clones each cut. I've been vegging with a Mars SP 250 and have had good results this run.

This is what I use have had mine for at least 4 year's now totally worth the hundy buck. Great for veg and clone.

And would save you alot on the power bill. What was your strike rate under the 600

As for the Auto cloner I personally wouldn't bother I have one and I hardly ever use it they can be amazing but they can have there own set of problems or make your own heap's of tutorials on YouTube.

Nothing wrong with the good old jiffy good propagator a T5 a heatpad for winter and a thermostat if you want to get fancy

Hey guys, I am looking into getting a couple T5s for my cloning/seedling area. I had a couple questions...

First, this is the tent they'll go into.

I am going to use the 1x3 section (its split into 2 platforms) for clones/seedlings.

My problem is that I can't for the life of me find a T5 that is less than 1ft wide. I was looking at some 2-foot lamps, with fixtures they're around 26"-28" , but I can't find one that is less than 12.5" wide. My question is, would it be ok to put those inside the tent if they would be touching the mylar? If they don't generate a lot of heat, I don't see why not, but was just curious if anyone else has encountered a similar problem. Thanks!

You could just look for single or twin strip lights and fit to whatever your dimensions are, you don't have to look for "grow" lights.
Or go with cfl

They weren't necessarily all grow lights, I just looked up 2ft T5s. Still no lights that are less than 12.5" wide. When you say strip lights are you referring to something other than a T5? Still new to all this. Thanks for the help bro.

T5 , T8 and T12 are all fluorescent tubes, with different width bulb and pins fittings. They come in single batten or twin batten or in the case of the grow market multiple batten units so if your finding the units are too wide but 2ft long then try searching for single batten or twin batten 2ft t5.

like this

You can also look for t8 but they are less efficient than t5.

If all your doing is cloning in a small area a couple of 11-20w cfl works really well, but it is less even light spread.

Weakest light you can get during cloning. People may have a 40watt light but they keep it so high that what's reaching the plants is certainly not much of that. Old shop lights are perfect.

Cool, thanks for the help guys. I got a T5 fixture with 2 bulbs. I grabbed some of those LED strips too, just for the hell of it, I want to try both. Thanks again!
