Cloning in flower

So this is my first grow. Things are going well. I used BC Bud Blueberry regular seeds. Sexing was no problem. I got a lot of heterogeneity in the characteristics of female plants that grew out...one in particular I want to clone. It is squat, it flowered first and seemed to deal well with the stress that a newbie could throw at a plant. In doing my research it turns out that cloning during the flowering phase is hard and fraught with failure.

Fine...I do my research. The balance between auxins and cytokinins drive the growth of the meristem, the structure responsible for axillary sprouting, the structury we try to target during cloning...couldn't the right balance between auxins and cytokinins more efficiently convert a flowering plant into vegetative growth and rescue the female I have?

Any advice? I hear Clonex is good stuff. Could I supplement with auxin or cytokinin (or both) at a specific concentration. Maybe?

Oh ya, before I get slammed - ~400W CFL, generally sticking to FoxFarm nutrients, soil.

Too many mind daniel san.

Your overthinking it, if you really did your homework youd see its not hard at all and is actually done regularly by many growers with no special attention paid to cuttings or rooting hormones myself included.
If you want a successfully revegged plant asap just turn your lights to 24/0 no problems.
Clonex is a good rooting hormone to use
And I think cytokinins are responsible for vegetative type growth like cell elongation/multiplication and auxins are for root growth and are used as rooting hormones as far as I understand.

If all that chemistry mumbo jumbo intrests you id suggest looking into micro propogation, you have to find the proper balance of auxins and cytokinins to encourage growth of callus, roots, and shoots off of a piece of a plant like a leaflet or piece of root Inside a little jar pretty interesting stuff.

Thanks for the reply...nice quote from the Karate Kid. My son and I take Karate lessons together and have a blast at it.

I'm a cancer biologist by training so I'm very familiar with the chemistry mumbo jumbo, at least for mammalian cells. Honestly, plant cells don't seem to be that much different. Different chemicals, but the "chemistry" is the same. I have looked into micro propagation and will continue to explore. For now, though, I have a really nice plant that I would love to clone and you have given me hope that it is possible....at some point, I just need to do the experiment.

Cheers

Lool i love that guy "chemistry mummbo jumbo"....

You seem to have found out some good base info. From a growing point of view you have two options, you can cut some clones dip in clonex then into some rapid rooters under 24hrs of light, once rooted feed with a good veg feed and wait until new veg growth appears then move onto 18/6 or preffered cycle....

Air layering (see uncle ben post) to clone then lighting and feed as above.

Or

harvest plant at end of cycle....leave a fair amount of lower airybud in tact....place whats left in veg tent and wait.....

Reverting a plant back takes time....however some do this and reap 2 or more harvests from one plant....i have not done this so cannot comment...

As.for.hormones.clonex.has.all you.need.
